SOURCE: Philips DVDR3450H Recorder does not record all of timed programs

When setting the record timer make sure that PDC / VPS is switched OFF.

PDC - Programme Delivery Control / VPS - Video Programming System is designed to allow for late starting or running programmes. Not all channels support PDC/VPS, so the recorder may be waiting for a PDC/VPS signal which isn't there.

SOURCE: Philips MRV700VR DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

Crack the top open and look inside for any foreign matter. Usually the cause is debris in the IR path that detects start and end of tape or the loading mechanisim is faulty.

SOURCE: funai wv20v6 dvd/vcr player recorder

I have researched that there has been numerous issues in this unit beyond warranty period just like this issue and the one I have with the DVD recorder. I am planning to write a letter to the company and need some supporters. If you like to put a response (one line with your name) in this link, I will include them as comments to the CEO of the company. I feel like we are being ripped by this company that sells products with defective and unreliable components.

My Magnavox MWR20V6 DVD VCR Combo shuts down, after 5-10 seconds, following start-up (on/standby button). I saw "E1(rear)," on the TV screen, just before it shut down the last time. I suspect...

Before anything, I would attempt to see what the E1 code signifies. But usually when those things just shut themselves down it is because of a serious problem in the power supply. I think it is time to go shopping.

Unlikely, but good possibility. Investing in a head cleaner would not be a bad idea. But also make sure the unit is well ventelated.

Powers down

Unplug it for about 30 minutes then plug it back in and try. If it starts giving you less and less might be the power board in the machine going out. Call the support line that is located in the front of the unit.

DVD player/recorder not working at all

Unplug for atleast 15min and turn back on, if this doesn't work you will have to take top off and get a small philips screwdriver and take of carriage on top of tray and manually take disc out and find out what is causing the problem. If the reset does not get it.
