20 Most Recent Philips MRV700VR DVD Recorder/VCR Questions & Answers

On a unit I checked with this same symptom, removing the top cover allows the unit to stay on and operate normally. There is some sort of sensor at the left middle of the chassis, which, when unblocked by any opaque object, allows the unit to remain on. A temporary fix (not advisable) would be to replace the top cover with a piece of clear plastic or taut saran wrap (no vent holes needed). It's unclear exactly where/what that sensor is from a cursory test. This is a work in progress on someone else's machine that I lack full access to.

Crack the top open and look inside for any foreign matter. Usually the cause is debris in the IR path that detects start and end of tape or the loading mechanisim is faulty.

EXT1 is not an error - that message means that the dvd player is on input "EXT1" - so it is trying to display whatever is connected to EXT1 in the back of your DVD player, whether it is a cable/sat box, another vhs player, etc. The message may be getting displayed for a number of reasons - but, if you put in an incompatilbe/unfinalized disc type, and it is not able to play that disc, it may default to EXT1 b/c it is searching for some type of usable signal.

The MRV700VR is only compatible with certain discs types - and the disc types that you are trying to insert must also be finalized discs. I would reccomend only using the compatible disc types listed in your user's manual - some of them are getting harder-to-find. 16x discs are very iffy with this machine. 8x discs are best.

I have the full user's manual, so I can give you any more details that you request.

The first thing you need to try is unpluging the unit from the wall totally then wait for about 5 minutes then plug it back in and try again,if you get the same results the cassete is probably stuck in the vcr and that is why the it unit shutsdown. It will continuo to do this until thye cassete is taken out without being force. The unit will need to be service by a professional.

At least a couple of possibilities, check the yellow video cable that runs from the VCR to the TV, is it plugged into the side of the combo unit that says vcr?

Is your TV on the right source? You could have plugged the audio into say AV2 and the video into AV1, causing a mismatch. Make sure the yellow, red, and white are all plugged into one input section on the TV (AV1, AV2, Video 1, Video 2, etc).

HelloIf the tV has a "Menu" button at tis fron panel, you can press it and surf through, come to input selector window, and can change the input to TV. If there is no Menu button on its front panel, there is no other way to change the inputs without its remote control.

It could be because the TV's screen is starting to go bad and that your TV's screen and TV are starting to die on you.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

The Philips CSS2123B/F7 uses a remote control to power on the sound bar. See the documentation here: https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/CSS2123B_F7/soundbar-home-cinema-speakers/support . You can find a replacement remote here: https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-996510054954-996510050576-996510063326-CSS2123B/dp/B06XK1TW4C or here: https://encompass.com/model/PNFCSS2123'F7 . Otherwise, find a universal remote control that is compatible with the Philips sound bar. You may need to try multiple codes to get it to work. I hope this helps. If the IR receiver is not working on this sound bar, then I'm not sure it's worth repairing the unit. Cindy Wells
