No heat in newly installed wall oven/Microsoft unit. Everthying else works fine.

I just installed a GE wall oven / microwave unit. Microwave works perfectly, oven console, light and fan work fine but there is no heat coming from the elements in the oven. The unit is connected to a 40 Amp circuit and I reset the breaker without any change to performance. Any ideas?

The control circuits for the cooktop lights and the hood fan are spearate. The problem is indeed with the control unit. It's usually caused by either the filaments shorting when the lamp blows or by removing or installing the bulbs while the oven is still plugged into the power line. We regularly repair these nationwide for $32.50. SOURCE: GE Microwave oven vent fan not working

You are correct the fan motor is either stuck or needs replaced.

There is no way to do this without removing the entire microwave. In case your not familiar with how microwaves work, there is a capacitor that is very large inside and can hold a charge even after it is unplugged for up to 24 hours, please take action to prevent getting shocked.

GE JVM1850CH06 microwave no heat with loud humming sound

With the details you described, the high voltage diode might be shorted( usually HVR 1X). It is connected from the Capacitor and the chassis, or else the capacitor is the one at fault, but not common .

Everything works except heat

this is something you should probably call a repair technician for, due to the danger of the componentry.

Usually in ther case of this problem, even a technician will advise you to replace the unit, in the minds of cost effectiveness and safety...

Microwave not heating food

It's most likely the Magnetron. The are not very easy to install and quite expensive. Older models magnetrons cost about 80 bucks from GE. It's probably not something you would want to try and repair yourself. Call a GE service person.

Microwave oven does not heat anything

It's probably a defective magnetron.

This should have a one-year full parts and labor warranty, then another several years on the magnetron, typically 9 years.

A typical service call for this might run about $175 for the visit and repair labor, assuming the magnetron is still covered under warranty. Compare that to the cost of buying and installing a comparable oven.

Your owner's manual will tell you how long the magnetron warranty is.

You can save that home visit charge and get a diagnosis for about $25 or so by removing it from the wall and taking it to the nearest GE-authorized servicer.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.
