61HDX98B I was given this TV and it has a built in Directv Receiver. I ordered a card for it, not yet in. I was wondering if the tv should work without the access card? I can't play a dvd, vcr etc. The tv turns on but no signal. Shouldn't I be seeing something? I opened the back of the tv and I see an LCD light flashing "protect"???? not sure what to do?

Switch to an aux. or different input. You will need an original replacement remote to do this with. If you do not have an original replacement remote, you can find on here:http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&smodel=61HDX98B&brand_pn=HITACHI_61HDX98B&mode=large&uid=11834718300770 If you do have an original remote, you will need to press the input button on the bottom left hand corner of the original remote to switch inputs Good luck

Contrary to the idea that a remote may solve the problem - the LED flashing on the signal board indicates a potential short and possibly why you had the TV given to you to begin with... This is a DP85 Chassis that has a couple of traps in it - like the bulletin PT99-04 explaining that improper inspection of the main chassis can damage the unit. My suggestion would be take it to a reputable shop for an estimate and don't run it too long or you may risk more or severe damage that will be quite costly to repair...

Proceed with the troubleshooting steps below only if you're seeing:

I want to run a live TV threw my acer aspire Z5700 with directv how do I do it

Hello booche!
Directv provide free software so that you can stream live TV over your home network from your Directv Receiver to your computer. I think given the particular model of All-In-One you are using, this is perhaps the simplest and best option for you.
Here is a direct link to the Directv website page which gives detailed instructions: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/directv/technology/directv2pc
I hope this works for you!

How do i hook my direct tv to the philips tv

This is what you'll need to do this:
  • Your DirecTV receiver, DirecTV access card, and your DirecTV satellite dish.

Step 1: You need to write down the serial number that is on your DirecTV access card onto a piece of paper that you will need for future reference. You'll need the number to activate your service with the DirecTV company. Now take your access card and insert it into your box, there is a slot either on the back or front side in which the card with enter.
Step 2: Plug the cable line that is coming from your satellite dish into the "Satellite In" plug on the back of your receiver box.
Step 3: Look for the "Out to TV" port on the back of your receiver, and use the proper cable, which should come with it, to plug it from the receiver into the proper port in the back of your TV.
Step 4: Power up the receiver and your TV (after plugging in the power cable and all) and tune into either channel 3 or 4, depending on where you live.
Step 4.5: You may be prompted to plug in a phone line, in which case you would need to plug in a phone cable into the back of the receiver, but this is only required as a one time thing, you may unplug it after activating your account.
Step 5: Once everything is set up (which it should be at this step), call DirecTV at 1-800-531-5000 to activate your access card, and you will need to use the serial code you copied down from it.
Step 6: After your access card is activated, enjoy watching on DirecTV!

Can I take the access card out of a standard Directv satellite receiver and put it in a new Directv HD DVR (HR20-700) without any problems?

You can do that but it still won't work. You have to make the changes with Direct TV in person for them to "authorize" your new receiver. More is needed than just the card.

Want to run my dtv receiver through new digital converter box.

You will not be able to record local station from a DTV converter connected thru a directv receiver unless there is a a/v input on the directv samsung receiver. Also check the user manual for this receiver if recording from an external source such as a DTV converter box is possible. The answer to seperating the DTV converter box from the directv samsung receiver is possible if your tv has multiple inputs. Try connecting the DTV box to the RF input and the directv samsung box to an a/v input then change inputs using the tv remote. you will need an av cable (yellow/ red/white) for the directv box and a rf jumper cable for the DTV box.

Direct receiver is not responding to remote

if you go to: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P4380052#h:1020.450

it has different remote codes. you would have to select "satellite setop box" also you need the model # of the receiver which can be found (normally) behind a door on the front panel of the receiver on a sticker (where the access card and reset button are) if its not a directv receiver, (hughes, etc) then it would probably be on the back of the receiver you would see a sticker with the model # of this receiver.

the first code should be 00001 follow the instructions on how to program on that website.

Rf modulator for direct tv box

Re: Hiding the direct tv box
Your primary concern with hiding the receiver is how it works with the remote control. By default, Directv remotes use an IR (infared) beam to communicate with the Directv receiver, and this means there must be clear line of sight from the remote to the receiver. However, you can possible use RF (radio frequency) to transmit signals instead. This would allow you to pretty much hide the receiver anywhere you wanted. Currently, standard receivers do not have this capability, but DVRs and HDs do. Contact Directv customer service and ask if you will need to order an RF remote (there may be a charge). https://forums.att.com/t5/DIRECTV-Installation/Hiding-the-direct-tv-box/td-p/4425309
