I had the same problem. I tried various compatibility settings (without success). What fixed it for me was going to the Compatibility tab and checking the "Run this program as an administrator" box.

Try this method for Vista, haven't had time try it on my new win7 notebook. But still works great on my other notebook running Vista and XP pro.
