Whirlpool Ultimate Care II spin cycle not functioning correctly

I have an eight-year old Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washer, model # LSQ9665JT that makes a very loud noise during the spin cycle. When the entire wash cycle finishes, all the water has drained from the basket, but the clothes are very wet. Is this enough info for an expert to determine a definitive root cause? Or will I need an onsite technician to troubleshoot? I would prefer to attempt to repair this myself if I had good information on how to do so ... and if the repair cost is significantly less than buying a new washer.

The basket is not out of balance ... but, thanks.

It is draining completely ... I assume that it is draining at the correct time.

It sound like the basket is out of balance. When it spins open the lid and see if the basket is moving side to side and back to back. If so look under the deck and see if there is springs or rubber ties attached to the basket.

Is it on fast spin? If so can you confirm that its spinning on high? Check the belts to see if the belts are tight.

Sounds like the clutch is slipping but sometime catching. Or maybe the transmission is almost gone. Is there a burning smell? If so, probably clutch.
