Sony CDP-C235 CD Changer Dirty Laser Problem

You take it to a Sony Service Centre. They are dangerous to work on, and Sony 'do things their own way'.

Did you try cleaning the laser optics with a cleaning disc?

Try a laser cleaner if not the laser needs replacing which is a cimple procedure.

The pladder motor that spins the disc is open, or the laser pickup is defective, the whole laser assembly would need to be replaced, not cost effective to repair cheaper to buy.

You can try a laser cleaning kit to see if that will help, generally when the laser gets to that point it is time to replace the laser pickup assembly or just replace the whole unit due to cost over runs in repair.

from your description it could be the laser unit
try to clean with a clean disc
if it will not help it might be the laser unit

Pretty much the only thing you can try at home is cleaning the laser lens, if the cleaner works then remember to use it now and again.
If the CD lens cleaner does not work the take it to the nearest sony tech/dealer for repair. Multi CD systems are very complicated and need specialist attention.

It is clear symptoms of bad optical laser or dirty optical lens.
Please put lens cleaning CD in player, play that CD to clean dust on optical lens surface. If that helps, fine or replace optical laser block in player.

Try using a comerically recorded disc.Or you can purchase a Cd lens cleaner disc and clean the laser

Your laser lens is probably dirty, try a laser lens cleaner if that doesn't work, unplug the unit and take the outer casing off and manually clean the laser with some alcohol and a dry cotton cloth, would also be a good time( see that you have it apart already) to lubricate the moving components with some Vaseline.

hi for starters look carefuly if you are putting the CD's in the right side inside the magazine and the magazine itself in its right position take a air spry can and clean the laser eye of the changer while ur at it clean the whole changer from dust and dirt good luck windman
