ERROR message - CD is dirty or not put in the magazine correctly
Can you help ?
Whenever I try to play a CD on my Sony CDX 605 CD Changer I receive the ERROR message on my in car receiver (XTC-C200RDS). I have looked in my handbook which advises that if this message is received then the CD is dirty or not put in the magazine correctly. I have done this and it still does not work. Saying that it does work intermittently. Does anyone have any other ideas ?

Hi
for starters look carefuly if you are putting the CD's in the right side inside the magazine and the magazine itself in its right position
take a air spry can and clean the laser eye of the changer
while ur at it clean the whole changer from dust and dirt
good luck

Error 99 is CD not up to speed. Either the CD is slipping, Defective CD,
pickup is unable to read sectors and is either dirty pickup or pickup
going bad.
Is it always the same CD you are playing? Is the CD smudged
with finger prints or dirty? If not suspect the CD itself. This
will require Repair or Replace, as E-99 is a classic malfunction &
unit will need to be taken apart, "unless" there is a CD stuck in the
Unit.
If you have loaded a Blank Cartridge & clicked Eject
& found no extra CD, then you will need to have a Reputable Shop
Repair Typically this is the Logic I.C. & / or the Servo Motor. Sometimes you can find the same Unit on E-Bay, Craigs List, etc for less than Repair

E-04: Disc is dirty, upside down or unreadable. E-10: No data is recorded on the MD. The player plays the next disc automatically. E-99: Changer malfunction, disc may be caught in machine or changer requires service.

The changer has a mechanical slide system inside it. It may be binding up around those positions. You may want to take the cover off and reposition some of the excess grease into those slide tracks and try it again. Or you could just be happy with a functioning 7 CD changer.
hi there that is sorta the problem i had and if you press eject nothing happens its still in there what i done was disconnect the battery for at least one minute and the cd changer lost its memory and was fine so i ejected the cd magazine and cleaned all the cds and blew out inside the machine has worked everytime its woth a try
You said you cleaned the player but did you clean the disc? Any scratches, dirt debris?
To clean the disc you can but special cleaning soultions at various retailers. Have you tried playing diffrent discs, that will help rule out if it's the player or disc.
