The dust has probably got on the lens, which needs to be cleaned too. You can try a lens cleaning disc. But if that doesn't work I would use some Servisol Video 40 on it.

I recently replaced the 2 belts that move the table assembly. The loader picks the disc and loads it to the player. The player does not spin the disc, so no music. Any suggestions?

One of the two belts may be slipping (the one not used for loading.

How do you remove the disc holder from the motor shaft

Visit this site for more details. Type in the site name "Electro-help" either Google or Yahoo search box [not in the address bar of your browser], and click search. It is an electronic equipments service help site. All details you want are there. Note the position of hyphen in between words in site name, when you type it in. Sony CDP-CX450 Cd Player

Hi,

As in most current devices, absence of power (as in shortages/outages) simulates a reset. The reset reverts the unit back to factory defaults which of course does not have user configurations and settings.

A workaround perhaps would be with the use of a UPS as those used in computer systems.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
