Letters wearing off stainless steel

Some labels are wearing off my Viking stainless steel appliances. I guess they are dry transfer type and do not resist cleaners well. Is it possible to buy the entire label word or do I have to try to do it letter by letter?

Depending on the appliance and series you could replace the logo or of its etched on and came off ET al designer series, you would have to replace top for cooktop or door for fridge or door panel for oven or range . Model serial helps pin the answer more specific . Hope this helps

SOURCE: want stainless steel front door for dishwasher

There are a couple of ways to do this. The easiest one is to check out www.applianceart.com and they have many different options for "wrapping" the front of your dishwasher. They change it often so if you don't see it, call the company becuase I know they have it.

SOURCE: Stainless Steel Replacement Cover for GE Spacemaker XL, GE PotScrubber 680

The cost of changing all the front panels ...even if you do all the work yourself.. is probably not worth the effort. You can go to this GE website and research the parts you'd need to make the transition but in all probability.. it will be more trouble than its worth ( my opinion and eventually maybe yours).. Good luck..

Here is the GE website that you can use to identify parts required http://www.myapstore.com/Omega/Dispatcher?REQUEST=STARTSHOPPING&zipcode=40225&couponCode=Promo+Code&username=P9900103&password=anonymous&origref=http://genet.geappliances.com/geasearch/Dispatcher?REQUEST=GETSEARCHRESULT&alias=http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/parts/
or contact them directly with your specific model numbers to see if they offer upgrades to stainless.. Good Luck..

How to clean stainless steel appliances

Use extra virgin olive oil to clean and shine stainless steel. Apply with lint free cloth and rub into stainless steel following the grain of the steel. Then with dry portion of cloth buff like you would car polish and you will be amazed at the shine. It also provides some protection due to the fact it is a oil.

The door is getting rusty. I believed that stainless steal didn't rust. Is there a way I can remove the spots?

Normally these appliances use brushed steel which gives a stainless steel look.

Get a magnet and run it on the sheet. If it sticks then it definitely is not stainless steel.
However, with wear and tear stainless steel surface does break down causing rust to start.

To remove rust go to this site.

My Viking oven door will not open after self cleaning 3 hours ago

not sure. its possible that something melted into the hinges and glued it shut. or i guess if it got hot enough the metal could have been heated up to a point where it was bent out of shape and thus it got stuck

How to clean stainless steel

You say your new oven...and DW have stains...I will assume (if that's OK) that you have a stainless steel oven...and are washing stainless steel in the DW...but you are having streaks and or white...spots or deposits...Sounds like hard water...you may try a localized..(just for the DW and kitchen sink area) filtration system...to reduce hardness of water...(is this well water)..if so you definitely need filtration...if you don't already have it.
Here are some issues and or cleaning techniques for stainless steel.

stainless steel is known for its ability to be a clean surface that resists corrosion and rust. Dirt, dust and grime, however, put stainless steel at risk for corrosion and rust. Luckily, stainless steel responds well to cleaning, never wearing out from excessive cleaning, as long as certain rules are followed. 1. Water and a cloth.
Routine cleaning can be accomplished by using warm water and a cloth. This is the least risky option For cleaning stainless steel. Dry with a towel or cloth to prevent water spots. Wipe in the directions of the polish lines.
2. Mild detergent, (dish washing liquid) and cloth.
For cleaning that needs more power, mild detergent and warm water can do a great job without damaging the stainless steel. Make sure you rinse the surface thoroughly to prevent staining and spotting. Towel dry to prevent water spots which can be caused by minerals in water.
3. Glass cleaner for fingerprints.
Fingerprints are one of the biggest complaints about stainless steel, but can be taken care by using glass cleaner or household ammonia. Rinse thoroughly and towel dry. There are some newer types of finishes for stainless steel that resist fingerprints, a must if your pint-sized helpers leave their mark on your stainless steel appliances.
4. stainless steel Cleaner.
If you’ve had staining or scratching, or need to polish your stainless steel, a stainless steel cleaner may be a good option. Some of these cleaners and polishes can help minimize scratching and remove stains. They also can polish stainless steel surfaces nicely. Read the directions on the stainless steel cleaner and test in an inconspicuous spot. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and towel dry.

If this does not help please clarify...with specific model #'s and walk me through (step by step) what the specific problem is and how you address it....Thank you and I hope this helps.............
Good Luck...........The Fang.

Viking all refrigerator

I just started having the same problem with my 48" frig/ freezer Viking Designer series 2 years old- this has been a hot summer, we were not home much and the AC in the house was set higher 78 degrees so the frig I guess had to work a bit more - when I open the door to the frig water droplets acually run down the interior of the door and the box insde is always damp - I also have stress cracks in the interior shell of the frig - repairman is trying to get Viking to fix it- it has been a year now and it still is not fixed- the stress cracks were caused by improper insulation application to the inside of the frig according to the repair people- Also my handles have pealed - like the stainless steel is not really stainless steel - Any ways could the temp in the house changed - does not mean the frig should not work well - For what it costs, I expected better
