Conrad thank you so much for your input! I bought this watch for my hubby after we got married and we were doing a lot of diving at the time..it's a shame it's the blue faced one and I think very sharp looking! Thanks again

An independent watch repairman (used to be one at every jewelry store) can probably replace the stem of your watch for far less money, depending the damage you describe. I suspect that the high repair price given to you by Sector means that they would simply drop a brand new movement into your watch and give it back to you. In most cases, though, a replacement stem wholesales for $7-20, and you might be looking at $30-75 in labor, depending on where you live and the type of watch repair shop you're able to find.

When looking for a repair place, I would stay away from the big chain jewelry stores--and also the "while you wait" watch battery shops. Neither of those operations typically has an in-house person with the right expertise to fix your watch.

When all is said and done, it is possible that the nature of the stem break will require more expensive repairs to your watch. A good repairman will tell you if that's the case. Even then, $400 seems very high to fix this problem. In the old days of even 10 years ago, this would be a $25 repair!

Best of luck with your quest.

It is likely that a repair is possible. I suggest that the sooner it is attended to the better, since is might be something like a screw falling out and if this sort of thing did happen then it may be serious.

A local watch repairer may be able to sort it out for you.

Stem was not staying down and know the stem is

the 3200 model was one of the sturdiest models Luminox has ever made...the crown is not too expensive to replace and unless the threads on the case tube are bad or there is water damage it would be worth repairing IMHO

The stem of my Vicence watch seems to be broken as the hands still move after I push the stem in. Can this be easily and inexpensively repaired?

Doesn't sound like the stem is broken. Sounds more like the the setting lever is in the wrong position. If this is the case it's easily fixed and shouldn't cost too much.

Broken stem (or came off)

You could send it to Timex yourself and they might fix it for free if it looks like it just unscrewed.

I pulled on the crown and it came off the stem

Do not open the watch yet, as you do not know how to get the stem out.
Take an eyeglass and examine the crown. You will find the small hub in the centre of the crown. If the centre of this hub is hollow and you can see the thread in it- you will be able to screw it back on stem (all watch crowns are screwed on to stems, never pressed).
If the centre of that hub looks filled with metal, then the stem end is broke and you will need replace stem AND crown (the metal filling the hub is the broken end of stem).
In case if the crown still in tact, let me know by asking questions and I'll guide you through all the process HOW TO.

Broken stem off aromen gobletover 50yrs old maker bleirristall made in bavaria.germany 24% clear stem any chance of repair have broken pieces was my Mothers passed away meens the world to me please help...

Is the stem broken near the crown? Or do you think there is enough stem to take out of crown? If not you probibly will have to go to a watchmake (NOT a watch repairman) to make you the stem. If there is enough metal to take stem out of the crown you may be able to get someone to solder the stem back together. I do that reguarly with stems that are vintage, and I don't want have the time to remake the whole stem. Let me know. Good Luck!!!!
