Does the WM65 have a heating element and would you recommend using direct hot and cold or just cold?

The washer on the hot feed has gone and it is leaking. I was going to buy another hose when i was told it would be better and cost effective to only use the cold feed and let the element heat the water. I am not sure if the Aquarius 1200 plus WM65 has a heating element and which scenario is better.

According to page 8 of the manual, the unit can function as you describe but the manufacturer says to use a "Y" connection to send water pressure to both cold and hot inlets, this could mean that if you don't , the machine will not fill in the correct manner, It is better to use both hoses to each supply side and not try to be cost conscious. IT takes more time for the unit to heat the water than it does to use already hot water.

SOURCE: hot point aquarius 1100

All Hotpoint washers have heater element regardless of whether they are cold fill only, or hot and cold fill.
if 2 connections at rear, then it is hot and cold fill, if only 1 connection, then it is cold fill only.

Thanks.

Do you know if it's a hot or cold feed at inlet

Hi Charles
The traditional method of supply was using hot water for filling. However, it is possible to save money on some machines by hooking up to cold water as the element in the dishwasher uses less power than your water heater. Unfortunately, some manufacturers still require using hot water for filling. You'll need to check your manual to see if this is the case. Here's a link to This Old House explaining dishwasher installation.
Hope this helps

In a previous house, we had both a hot water feed and a cold water feed. My new house only has cold water feed, can i still use this washing machine?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

In a word- YES!

You will need to purchase, from a hardware (?) store, a 'Y' adapter. Upside down the single end screws into the cold water supply and the hot and cold washer pipes screw into the double end. The washer is fooled into thinking it has hot and cold! When it expects hot, it opens its hot valve but instead gets the cold water and has to heat it up. It will therefore take longer for the machine to do the washing. When it wants cold for rinses, it opens its cold valve and gets the same water! Simple ;-0)
Good luck,

Does the wma76 hotpoint need a hot water feed? Is a cold water feed enough?

Hi from retired Englishman in France (it's 21:29!),

If your washer has 2 pipes for feeding water then one is for hot and the other is for cold naturally.
All washing machines have a water heating element in them- in case any hot water supply is not hot enough for its wash.
If you only have a cold tap you will need to purchase a 'Y' connector. This screws onto the cold tap supply (single end) and the hot and cold feed pipes connected to the washer screw onto the other two ends. The machine will now be fooled into thinking it has two separate feeds!
The machine opens the valve for the 'hot' water supply (which of course is cold) and the heats it up to the required temperature for the wash cycle. Afterwards, when the machine requires cold water for rinsing, it opens up the 'cold' supply (which is the same supply as for the hot water!) and is happy.

Hope this answers your question.

Is the feed pipe a hot or cold feed?

Connect the dishwasher to the HOT water side. Although most dishwashers have a heating element to heat the water, they are normally installed this way to reduce the amount of time the heating element is on. This not only extends the life of the heating element, but also reduces the amount of electricity required to heat the water. Another helpful hint: Before you run the dishwasher, run the hot water tap until the water runs hot. This will fill the dishwasher with water that is already hot instead of the cold water that normally sits in the line after the hot water has not been run for a while. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Hot water comes in cold/cold setting

These machines are designed to have the cold water around 70-75 degrees. If your cold water is colder than that it will automatically mix in hot during the wash cycle to reach that temperature. It all has to do with the optimum temp for proper detergent function.

Hoover HW160m - double inlet but only 1 tap at new build.

Hello,

You can use the cold water only with no issues at all. The only thing you will have to do is buy a cap to block off the hot water inlet on the back of the machine otherwise the cold water will flow out through it onto your floor etc.

And yes, your machine has an element built in which will heat the water for you!

Regards,
Adrian.

ZANUSSI ZWD162701 washing always comes out cold - WHY?

Washers are meant to rinse in cold water, so clothes should come out cold.
If you are not sure if it is getting hot, then select a very hot wash, and feel the door glass periodically, it should gradually get hotter, if it does not , then it is washing in cold water only.
This could mean that the heater element has gone.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
