I put my laptop in storage at the beginning of this year and forgot to take note of my password. And now I wish to log on and can't for the life of me remember it. I've tried safe mode, but all is does is load all of these files and then return to the login screen- aka useless. I've also tried those "bypass the password" things, but it doesn't seem to recognise the software on the USB. I am the Admin on the computer, and the password I've forgotten is the one all the help pages suggest I use. I really cant reset the computer and lose everything, I've got years of assignments and family photos that aren't backed up. Please; the quicker you can help, the better. I really need access to my files. Much appreciated :)
If you have another pc or can use a friends you can download "Hirens Boot CD" it's free and you just need to burn it to a disk and boot from it. Once it boots up it has a lot of tools including one you can remove the password. If you need help using it you can google it there is plenty of information.

Try booting to Safe mode by tapping F8 on Compaq screen. and try system restore from there to a working time.
SOURCE: password
Some BIOS manufacturers implement a backdoor password.
The backdoor password is a BIOS password that works,
no matter what the user sets the BIOS password to.
These passwords are typically used for testing and maintenance.
Manufacturers typically change the backdoor BIOS passwords from time to time.

Try booting your system from a LIVE cd like linux, a verson of Hiren's tools, or the UBCD (ultimate boot disc for windows). If your keyboard still freezes with the alternate OS, you may have a hardware malfunction.
