Typewriter won't type

My typewriter won't type. When I turn it on, it beeps several times and the 1 and 2 line space lights flash. I've tried cleaning it with a can of air, but that didn't seem to help. I noticed 2 AA batteries on the right side of the machine and wonder if possibly these batteries need to be changed. I never noticed them before and have no idea what they're there for. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Marianne Page

All of the lights need to be flashing if the batteries are dead. Any other combination means either the keyboard , power supply or main logic board is bad.

When I turn the typewriter on it beeps about 3 times and the line spacing 1 and 2 are flashing, but it won't type or do anything. What can I try to do?

Tour key board is bad. You can try this.
The right keyboard connector has a group of 7 connectors bussed together cut a piece of heavy foil that width and slide it into the side of the plug to the front of the T/W covering just the 7 connectors.
I've done this many times and it holds up very well.

How to solve a problem with an IBM Wheelwriter 10 Series ll Model 6783

It is most likely a bad keyboard. You can try my fix under WW1000 or contact Geo. Beyers Co. for a rebuild.

When we turn on the typewriter it will do several beeps and the following line spacing lights are blinking: 1; 2 & 3. The cartridge won't move. Your help is very much appreciated!

Flashing 1,2,3 is a selection homing error. It could be a problem with the printwheel ( bent spokes), the rails the carriage ride on could need lubrication or it could be a bad power supply unit. We have been replacing a lot of power supplies on these units due to the age of the machine. You will likely need a tech to figure out the exact cause. Good luck.

We haven't used this typewriter in quite awhile and the line space buttons keep flashing and periodically beep. Can't turn them off.

Give the silver shaft that the carrier slides on a shot or WD40, turn it off and move the carrier back and forth. Replace the batteries, clean the battery holder if they were cruddy.
If this dosen't work repost this with model # Which lights are flashing and how many beeps.

Will not type

If the 1, 2, and 3 line space keys are flashing in order, you need to change the two AA batteries that are located inside your typewriter.
