My computer says to download the associated twain software for my epson 1260 series scanner. Where do I get it? I tried driver detective and my computer will not bring it up.

To Install a scanner

1) Connect it to your Desktop or PC

2) Check whether its able to detect the new device, Right Click on "My computer" icon and click the manage option

3) Select "Device Manager" & you can see your PC name on the top of the right column, just right click on it and select scan for hardware changes, then you can find an option "others" or "Unknown device" where your device will be listed in yellow color as unknown device, just right click on it and select update software.

4) please have your driver software for your scanner ready else you can download it from their website

5) just accept the terms "I Agree" and download it & unzip it & double click on setup.exe & follow the steps.

6) After installing restart your machine. your ready to go.

7) you can find the printer & scanner icon in the control panel, then your ready to go.

this is pretty ancient model, but... you can try to use winxp twain driver and it should work, your registry most probably will need bit of tweaking... version which will most probably work is TWAIN Driver v5.53A,

follow this procedure, disconnect your scanner from computer, run ccleaner to clean all rubbish, including registry clean.

download twain driver and then run it, force vista to accept it, reboot your computer. connect scanner and you will have then warning from vista about digital signature, disregard it and force install software. scanner should work.

i still would suggest newer version...

I don't think it's any of those things. I think it's a Twain Data Source problem. When you install the software for your scanner, make sure you also install the twain data source files. This is the scanning protocol used by all scanners and if not present, the scanner won't import images into Photoshop under the command "File" -> "Acquire."

Can you run a test through the scanner and camera wizard?
If so you are using a WIA driver and a registry entry is being blocked.
Look for an error log file in the Epson driver folder.
It may show the entry that has been marked read only.
If so just uncheck the read only mode and re-install software.

Install the twain driver and then the Epson Easyprint software and the scanner should work then.

Please trash the twain driver completely.
- Trash epson scan and epson scanner monitor from applications.
- Go to hd. Go to library, then application support. Trash epson scanner module.
- Go back to library. Click on image capture. Trash twain data sources.
- Go to the hd. Click on users. Click on your computer name. Click on Library. Click on preferences. Click on the epson folder. Trash epson scan.
- Empty the trash and restart your mac.
Log on to epson.com. Install the epson11926.dmg.

You need to download a "Twain Driver and Epson Scan Utility" from
the Epson Website.

But before you start downloading the Twain Driver we need to delete
the previously installed driver in your computer.

1.) Click and open the MAC or Apple Hard drive / Application and trash Epson Scan and Epson Scanner Monitor ( drag it to your trash )
2.) MAC hard drive / Library / Image Capture / Twain Data Source., we need to trash ( *.ds file )
3.) MAC hard drive / Library / Application Support., trash the Epson Scanner Module
4.) Disconnect the connection ( USB ) between the printer and your MAC.
5. ) Empty your Trash bin and restart your MAC

After the restart we can now download and install the Twain driver to your MAC.

After the installation try to launch Epson Scan under Application

Power off the Epson. Your twain software did not install correctly.
Uninstall the software you installed for the perfection 1250.
Go to Epson's link listed below & download the twain driver.
Pick your operating system & choose the twain driver.
