Horizontal lines are an event in time. Rainbow colored lines might be due to a flickering lamp. Or the scanner has an internal high frequency power supply for the lamp, and it might cause such a problem. A faulty or incorrect or insufficient power cube may be the problem. Is the problem everywhere, or random locations, or always in one place in the carriage travel? It could be irregular movement of the carriage due to loose belts or sticky guide rods or other mechanical interference can cause "glitches". You might notice the lamp flickering, or watching the carriage carefully while it moves might show some type of binding. Horizontal lines due to lamp problems are random, showing at whatever location of the carriage at that point in time, but a sticky carriage would probably always be seen at the same location. Effects of an insufficient power cube is probably seen all over the image.
In any event, lines are not caused by your scanning procedure and you need to get this scanner serviced. No amount of 'troubleshooting' will fix this issue I am afraid :(

There are two hidden screws toward the front of the scanner. So here (after removing the two screws) is the location of the top four screws to remove the scanner cover, there are two additional ones on the back plane of the scanner that are very obvious.
The two round plastic covers conceal the last two screws very well. After that the cover will lift right off, and there's about 10 more screws holding the glass tray down to the main chassis. The glass will then lift right off on it's tray, allowing access to clean the glass and sensor.

(I wish i could show you with photos, but I don't have this scanner with me anymore and I don't have any photo, who would think, this would be a problem for someone :-))

Please trash the twain driver completely.
- Trash epson scan and epson scanner monitor from applications.
- Go to hd. Go to library, then application support. Trash epson scanner module.
- Go back to library. Click on image capture. Trash twain data sources.
- Go to the hd. Click on users. Click on your computer name. Click on Library. Click on preferences. Click on the epson folder. Trash epson scan.
- Empty the trash and restart your mac.
Log on to epson.com. Install the epson11926.dmg.

Hi folks. I am the originator and have the solution to the problem. I feel a little stupid because I overlooked using a plastic insert/guide which is placed on the scanner, fitting on notches. It lets the scanner know to use the transparency device and provides a notch for film holder placement. It has been so long time since I used film ever since digital photography took over, I overlooked using this plastic insert. With it placed, I can scan film fine. Thanks

I don't know specifically what the solution is, but I just downloaded the user manual which has been missing and info from it might help. just use scan feture in high quilty mode when yuor doing 8x 11 instead of instant transfer alot these epsons have isses did u dl the latest driver from website for it also www.epson.com

Try this as a last ditch effort. Remove the software. Reboot the computer and come off line. Disable the Anti Virus program. Now install the soft ware. Then try. If the red light still flashes then assume it is new scanner time.

Try a hard reset of the printer. Oddly, the 034019 is not an error code, I have reason to think. It is a contact number, I believe.
