It is either a bad memory card or the reader. If it is the reader you'd be looking at a $95-$120 repair

Hi
Please check your cameras capability to support larger sized SD cards. It may not support those two SD cards. Also check for slide locks on the side of the cards and slide them to 'open' before inserting.

Canon SD1300 memory card locked

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. But, if you've checked the slide switch, the internal switch in the card slot may be jammed by a grain of sand or gunk. Here are troubleshooting steps for this problem. Recommend the toothpick fix for your particular problem.

This error message means that the card is corrupted or formatted for another digital camera. Turn off the camera. Insert a new card or format the card.

There is a problem with the card and is coming up with errors and top of that there may be underline issues that are not obvious at this point with the camera. But it would be to your advantage to take it back to the store for exchange.

Why am I getting a memory card error when putting the card in? The battery is fully charged. I have had the camera for 3 years with no previous problems.

Is the slide switch on the side of the card in the unlocked position? When was the last time you formatted the card? Download any pictures from it now using a card reader if necessary and then format it in the camera.
