If you have 1 sub u need a mono amp, two subs you can use a stereo amp on "two channel" mode if its NOT bridged, 4 chanel is more for 6x9s
this guide should help you alot :)

I have an alpine mrv-f307 4/3/2 channel. I have it hooked up to 2 12in Kenwood subs. Right now standard 2 channel each sub having their own. I heard doing a series hook up and bridging the subs to the amp ...

Bridging an amplifier refers to combining the power of two channels to run one speaker at higher power. If it is wired correctly, your amplifier is running with 4 channels bridged into 2 speakers now.

Ok I have 2 12" cerwin Vega dual voice coil woofers if they are 4 ohm dual coil each,,,each one is wired to 2 ohms,,,should I connect each woofer together to make them 1 ohm and put them on a mono amp or...

First you cannot run 2 dvc 4 ohms at 2 ohms its either 1 ohm or 4 ohm. and yes you should bridge them better performance and power. i have looked it up for you and this is your 2 options at running your subs.

I have to hook up 4 amps in my car. 4 channel 700 watt ken wood, 2 channel 800 watt Sony, 4 channel 740 watt Jensen ,and a 2 channel Rockford fosgate. Which is best way to hook them up so I'm not ki

Pace posted on Saturday, March 05, 2005 - 01:08 GMT Your subs are dual 4 ohm voice coils so if you want to bridge your 2 channel amplifier to your two subs then wire them parallel, meaning the + to + and - to - ( Do this to both subwoofers), Then run a wire from one positive and one negative on each sub and bring the two positives together and the two negatives together and hook both positives to the far positive connection on your amp and connect both negatives to the other negative on your amp,

This will create a 4 ohm load on your amp.

Although if it's a two channel and you have two subs it's usually pointless to bridge them because if you use one channel per subwoofer its going to be the same as if both subs were bridged. example) 800 watts x 1 bridged power of your amplifie (4 ohms) is the same power as 400 watts x 2 at 2 ohms.

I just needed some help with wiring my p8002 rockford amp to 2 fosgate 10 inch subs i just bought. there 4 ohms a piece and dual voice coil. i dont know much about car stereos but people keep telling me...

Well i tried looking up that amp, but Fosgate sight is down. So assuming that the best power out of your amp is 2ohms off the bridged hookup, and the subs are 4 ohms per coil, the best way is to only use one side of each speaker and hook it straight the the bridge. Only using one hook up wont hurt anything, its just for giving you wiring options. And when adding up ohms of speakers, it goes like this. If you had two 4 ohm subs, that'll give you a 2 ohm load. If you hooked up all your hookups, it would be like having four 4 ohm subs, and would give you a 1 ohm load.

Can i bridge the 4 ch. amp to 2 chnl.

Hello bdawson,

Maybe. Some, but not all, 4-channel amps can be bridged. You'll need to provide a specific brand and model number for a more definitive response.

On many bridgeable amps, the connections are shown right on the output terminals, usually the "+" of one channel and the "-" on another channel. The connection diagram in your user manual may also show which channels are bridgeable and the appropriate connections. Some amps may support what they call "tri-mode", powering both full-range speakers and subs at the same time.

Using a multi-channel amp with the channels bridged to power subs is a compromise. While you'll get an increase in power, it usually isn't as much as you would get from a monoblock. And fine tuning for the best sound is more complicated, balancing the filters and crossover so that the correct frequencies are sent to the appropriate speaker.

Hope this helps.
