Hello stressbag68,

It's best to find an existing grommet in the firewall and run the battery positive wire through it if possible.

If there is no grommet in the firewall, or if you are unable to locate one, you have 2 options:

Option 1 is to drill through the firewall, which can be done from either the interior side, or engine side. Be mindful of the brake booster and hoses/wiring on the firewall. Epoxy plastic bushings into the hole to protect the wire from chafing on the metal edge and shorting out. If the firewall is double walled, you'll need a hole from each side. You can use cut pieces of PCV pipe or PVC couplers for bushings, just measure the OD of the PVC and drill accordingly (just SLIGHTLY oversize - you may need to use a hole saw). Then epoxy the bushings in place. Once the epoxy is dry you have a smooth pathway through the firewall which won't cut the jacket of the wire. Pull the cable, and if you wish, fill the area surrounding it (where it goes throught the pvc) with clear silicone. If you are running the cables on the driver side, Be careful how you route the wires so that they do not interfere with pedal operation - take this into account when deciding where to drill your hole(s).

The other option is to run the cables externally, underneath the car. If you go this route, PVC tubing bolted through the floorboard can be used as conduit (Obviously, you would need to remove the seat and carpet in order to do so). Then you can use the same epoxy bushing procedure listed above to get the wire back inside the car.

Hope this helps.
