Dear Sir,
I purchased a HP Deskjet F4288 All-in-One on 28/11/2008 and
since then I have tried to install the said All-in-One in my Dell Inspiron 1525
laptop, but unable to do so. I am using a windows Vista Home Basic operating
system and the said All-in-One supports Windows Vista. To solve the problem I
contacted the HP people a number of times, but was unable to install the
All-in-One with there help also. So they told to contact Dell and accordingly I
contacted them and also tried to install the All-in-One with there help but
again was unable to do so. The problem that we are facing is that during
installation a diaglog box comes where it is written " Windows installer has
stopped working" and after that we are unable to install the All-in-One.
Hope you will be able to give me a solution to
the problem since I am using geniune Microsoft OS purchased from Dell. Because
both HP and Dell are telling that it is the problem to the
Windows.

required s/w component was not found or was imporperly installed
so install hp photosmart s/w and try again
please suggest best possible solution to this

still same issue
Thjs is because some files needed for installation areorrupt.reinstall ur operating system again and then install printer drivers .it will 100% solve ur problem.

Yeah I got the same fuckin printer and am also unable to install it even on an hp laptop. Shitheads
Talked with HP customer care, they asked to install what was avaliable on the net , ie ver 10 of the software, it did installed, but did not recognised my printer. The one provided in the CD is ver 11. It fails to install. Hp Customer care has told that he will contact me on coming 3-4 days..

i have lost the installation cd of my HP Deskjet F4288 all in one printer.....................
I reformatted my laptop and reinstalled my vista home premium. then tired to reinstall 4280 drivers. it still stops at 96% installation!
I also experienced the same with my acer 4530 laptop. I have windows vista home premium. Installation fails at 96% where message appears windows explorer has stpped responding. Then my Word, Excel and other MS office files do not open normally. . HP customer care gave me some suggestions but the problem still persists. . 96% installation failure point. . No more reply from HP.com??? I'm disappointed
