Smeared Screen I have a JVC rear projector and while hosting a party one of my guest slipped and their drink splashed all over the screen. After a couple of days a few of the spots seemed to dry out but, a very large portion of the screen is just black. Will the liquid dry up? Will the screen come back to normal? Is there any product I can purchase to fix this problem; or am I just out of luck on this?

When you describe a section of the screen being black are you talking about when the unit is on there is a section that shows NO picture at all? Any liquid in the unit could damage the intricate parts of the projection system. If the issue is just some mess on the screen it can easily be cleaned, but if there is a chance that the liquid made it in to the set I would take it in for repair. Liquid in the unit can render the item useless if on the right spot and left to dry and corrode electronic components.

My son just broke our screen. Where can I get a replacement screen?

jhornedvd,

Go to http://www.encompass.com and log in as a guest. Put your model number in the search engine. Locate the three parts to the screen which you will need and order them. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6210638-replace_broken_projection_tv_screen which will help with the removal of the old screen and replacement of the new screen.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

When i conect to the tv its on my screen in b/w is there a reason why plz

before you hook it up, is the splash screen b+w or color? if it's color and the video image is b+w, check the settings in the menu and your cables. if the splash screen is b+w too, replace the colorwheel.

Cannot get computer screen projected by 530

reset the settings to factory default. does the splash screen or a blue screen come up? make sure the correct input is selected, swap out the cables, and make sure the port on your computer is activated. if all else fails, you may need to drop the resolution on your computer to match the projector.
