TV won't turn on

I purchased the Insignia TV 32 in. during the fall of 2005 (manufactured in June 2005). It has been working fairly well until March 2007 when I started having problem turning it on. At first, 'the unplug then wait and plug again trick' worked. Thereafter, TV remains as described by other customers: A blue light will quickly follow the red light then will disappear. Best Buy says: sorry we can't help, you did not purchase the warranty. The manufacturer warranty only lasts a year (past due). What should I do?

How do you get rid of Test that appears on the screen in red

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
It depends upon the date of manufacture for Hotpoint (Indesit) washers. The date should be on the panel probably at the back in the most handy position, sorry!

Press both start/cancel AND on/off together until 'dOFF' is displayed

Date code 39 March 2005 to date code 42 June 2005

Date code 43 July 2005 onwards

Hopefully one of these should clear it ;-0)

Insignia 26 inch TV/DVD Combo produces strange odor when on.

You should never have an acrid or burning smell coming from electronics. I'd return the unit, if that is still an option, as it is about to fail.

Last year I went to my company's christmas party and in a random drawing I won a 32 inch Insignia lcd tv. I've only had it for a month and for some reason it when i'm playing a video game or watching tv it...

1. You will need to check the units instruction manual.
This sounds like the LCD TV is in the "timer" mode that is the tv is set for 120, 90, 30 minutes and then turns itself off.
2. It also maybe a circuit built into the TV to protect the electronic components and will shut down the unit when it senses a heat or voltage change ( this can be a manufacturing defect) call the manufacturer and see if this is a recall. Some time the manufacturer will replace the unit even if it is a gift from the company you work for.
The unit has already been purchased and has full warranty status.
Hope this helps.
