Flickering crispy screen

I have 2 LaCie 19 screens, 1 about 4 years old and the other about 3 years old on 2 different pc's. The newer one is fine but the older one has started to flicker. I can see a light horizontal line move erratically up and down at the bottom third of the screen and it makes a crackeling noise when it moves. Lately, the whole screen starts to flicker. Any diagnoses?

It's not magnetic interference. I have degaussed many times. I have turned the monitor off and on, I have turned the PC on and off. I have made contrast and brightness adjustments. Everything has a very temporary effect. It will clear up, then sometimes after 5 minutes or 30 minutes, the moving horizontal lines appears again then the crackling and flickering starts again.

Maybe ur screen was put into a lot of magnetic interference. so check for any magnetic rays emitting devices like speaker adapters etc. a simple check would be to degauss( its in the screen properties). raja

LG FLATRON L1915S BLACK SCREEN AFTER REFRESH 1SEC

old monitor , no PC stated, nor cable used < VGA>
test this old monitor on 2nd PC, if fails the monitor is bad.
it is 14 years old today, 2005 made
all this old are bad the toxic CCFL lamps go bad long ago.
best is the recycle center, it and buy only monitors and laptops
2010 or newer, or you get CCFL backlamps again.
the monitor this old has near zero street value, and repair costs are huge, nobody puts $1000 saddle on a $5 15 year old horse,
The CCFL panel can cost $100 and 1 to 2x that for labor
a used monitor is like $40 ,even walfart sells them called refurbs.

PC does not boot, screen stays totally balck

bad monitor none told but 2010 and older have CCFL lamps that 99% are all dead now, EOL>
test old monitor on other good PC, to see if monitor is bad
and see if the monitors OSD button is dead if is the monitor is dead.
power on mon, under15seconds hit menu and OSD must pop up.
that is 1 of 20 causes I can do 19 more and 19 more tests but I full stop here.

CCFL lamps die at 20000 hours, even 5 years old possible.

Sharp aquos lenovo sl410 hdmi cable

Have the same problem. Old laptop works fine connected to Sharp Aquas LC 46D65U. New HP 17 envy connected by same hdmi cable has intermittent flickering (screen shuts between 1 and 2 seconds. Computer works fine on other tv's. .HP tech support says its not the laptop. TV's 5 years old. Tried 2 HDMI cables. (one suggestion was to change the tv output to 1080i or 1080p opposite to current selection, but I havent figured out how to do that yet). Wondering if its a window 8.1 issue....windows 7 works fine on the old laptop.

I have an Acer al1912 19 lcd monitor. When I restart my computer or when it comes out of an off state. Most of the time it will stay black or in an off like state until I unplug the monitor and then plug...

tad older post but not too old, and ignored.
it's an old monitor lucky you it works at all,
after all most are dead now, 99%
15 years old today.
if the OSD is dead under 10second from, power on
the Montors CCFL tubes are dead.
the fail these ways
1: dead for ever.
2: work intermitantly (you)
3:Strobes.(means flashing like in a DISCO)
4: only 1/2 screen dead, (2 tube displays)
5; turn yellow, for white
6: dim, for ver.

never seen any 15 year old CCFL screens good.
not me unless parked on self for 10 years.
the clue is on last page, in your manual, the word "
mercury Hg toxic, it's there, means CCLF tubes here)
the cure is 2010 or newer monitors with LED back lamps
do that now, end the pain of #1 soon to happen.

The Contrast screen pops on all the time

It looks like your UP button contact is demaged.
SOLUTION is to insert a piece from your business card mostly above the button to adjust it down or up. It works fine.

Screen rolls

Hi,
I'm writing to you on a screen that is rolling and sometimes flickering right now. I've tried 3 different screens on the same outlet, and they all have the same problem.

1. If you have any speakers near your monitor, try moving them away, this might help because they might not be shielded enough.

2. Try another screen, if the problem persists, it may be your power outlet.

3. If you don't want to spend money on a new screen, spend some time looking for a 3-prong grounding adapter.

I used the 3-prong grounding adapter, those little adapters that plug into the wall using 2 prongs, and then you can plug a 3 prong appliance into them on the other site, and it helped make the rolls not appear as often, and not as dark.

I think it is something with my power or the plug I am using.

Hope this may have helped a tiny bit

Lacie 19" Electron Blue - Black screen with a brilliant white line across

I have 2 of these monitors and have this problem. I was so frustrated turning the monitor off and on until the white line disappeared that one day, I punched the screen. And it worked! So now whenever this happens (about once every other day) I use my palm and smack the lower left corner of the monitor until the white line disappears. I like the color on these screens so I don't want to replace them until I have to. I will NOT buy another Lacie though.
