Question about LaCie Electron 19" CRT Monitor

Lacie 19" Electron Blue - Black screen with a brilliant white line across

Sorry to have to join this argument, but I'm having the exact problem, a 2.5 year old monitor.. The crisp white line is however dead center, which began about 2 weeks ago.. I had moved the monitor near a power source when I first noticed this, but have moved it away.. It can be interferring and is not recommended.. But it still got worse, this morning I got the white line repeatedly, turning it on/off 8-10 times made no difference.. Like now this is just a fluke that I haven't lost the image for 20 min.. I'm using 1280X960 res. on 85 Hz, seems stable.. Haven't had the ominous flickering line which comes before the spectacularly glum finale yet.. For now I switch off the screen every moment I leave it, not to risk irreversal condition while hunting for solutions, but unless someone has a solution to this unbearable condition, I foresee a proper 'dent' in my purse buying a new monitor..

Same problem here. 2yr old monitor, solid white line. Usually turning off and on the monitor works, but this morning it wouldn't do it. I let it sit off for a few minutes and then turned it back on. It worked temporarily, but if this gets worse then I may smack it like you suggested! It's a great monitor, but if it's not reliable then i'll have to find a brand that IS!.

Same problem withe the same screen -- about two years old. Before the screen craps out, it gets slightly narrower at the top and bottom edges and then Fzzzzzzt (sound effect), it craps out and I get a brilliant white line across the middle. For what I spent on this POS I would have expected it to have a longer life (I am assuming it will soon go to the big junk pile in cyberspace.)

I'm having the same problem, it's been happening for a couple of months. Has anyone attempted calling a repair person? I'd hate to scrap this monitor, let alone have to buy a new one.

haha the punching is very funny!! I have the same problem and also punch the screen when it;s scrambling.
Now i'm searching for a new monitor, i think this one is 6 years old i guess.

Same crisp white horizontal line in the center of the screen on a black field. Sometimes OK if I turn it off and back on, but the black screen is getting more and more common. I assume it's dying; probably a five year old monitor.

I have 2 of these monitors and have this problem. I was so frustrated turning the monitor off and on until the white line disappeared that one day, I punched the screen. And it worked! So now whenever this happens (about once every other day) I use my palm and smack the lower left corner of the monitor until the white line disappears. I like the color on these screens so I don't want to replace them until I have to. I will NOT buy another Lacie though.

Thin line across computer screen

Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.

I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.

OR, Buy a new monitor.

I would try booting the computer in safe mode (if it's windows) and adjust your display settings. It sounds as though it is trying to display from your computer something that it cannot properly.

Flickering crispy screen

maybe ur screen was put into a lot of magnetic interference. so check for any magnetic rays emitting devices like speaker adapters etc. a simple check would be to degauss( its in the screen properties). raja

Blurring of images and text

mt, the 6 to 8 lines you were seeing were most likley the prelude to the end of the monitor. If the problem only occurs when the screen saver comes on then I could say the driver maybe being corrupted by a certain screensaver picture or program. When the monitor warms up to a certain temprature the electronics start to fail. You may want to turn off the monitor while your not right in front of it to cool it down and prolong its use.

Screen goes black with bright white horizontal line

This problem of loss of vertical deflection with the line offset from center suggests a cold solder connection in the vertical sweep circuit or in the power supply to the vertical sweep circuit. Most service shops should be able to fix.
