Cannon A610 + water = Print/Share button blue light !

SITUATION:
Ok. I was traveling and put some of the water I got on the plane in the same bag pocket where I had put my A610 (in retrospect...duh!).

The water from the sealed plastic cup did leak and get into my camera. I tried turning the camero on after wiping off most (but not all) of the water. I have let the camera dry off for more than 1 week now, but still each time I tun it on, the Print/Share button lights up in blue color...nothing else happens!

When the leak occured, I had Ni-Metal Hydride batteries in the camera and the water did get into the battery and memory slots. I did replace the batteries with regular alkaline bateries and for a second the camera did turn on (ie, Lens exposed, LCD turned on) but died quickly. So now my camera has an exposed lense. The Print/Share light issue remains.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED:
I have downloaded and searched the A610/620 manual to see if it tells u what the Print/share blue light might mean...but nothing specific there. I have also tried pressing and holding the power button, menu button and other buttons and also tried some combinations to no avail.

CAN YOU HELP?

I suspect my beloved A 610 is a goner, but I'm hoping it's a study lil bugga!

That may have helped a bit. The camera at least turns on and I can even take some pics in certain modes, but the buttons are all messed up....they are too senstive and dont work as expetced.

I ended up buying the newer version A 630 (8 mega px, larger lcd). Overall I am satisfied. Thanks for your help

Depends on how old your water ingress problem is.

If it is a recent problem, half fill a bowl with rice place your camera in it and cover the entire phone is rice, bury it.

Rice is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the camera.

No guarantee that will work though. Corrosion doesn't need much convincing to get going.

Inkjet cartridges dry up very soon. You have to use it everyday. Or clear the nozzles using hot tap water soak. Or try new cartridges again.

Will a 16gb SDHC card fit in and work in my Cannon Powershot A610 camera

No. The A610 works with MMC and SD cards, not SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work.

Memory card error?

Hi, Check if other memory card is working on your camera. This is one way of checking if your memory card if still working or there is an issue wither the camera. Formatting Memory card **you should always format a new memory card or one from which you wish to erase all images and other data. ** Please note that formatting a memory card erases all data, including protected images and other file types. 1. (Set up) Menu [Format]
2. Select [OK] and press FUNC SET button.
Low Level format, recommended by cannon
Select the [Low Level Format] when you think that the recording/reading speed of a memory card has dropped. A low level format may require 2 to 3 minutes with some memory cards.
