No. The A610 works with MMC and SD cards, not SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work.

What program do I need to download my photos from my Sandisk Ultra 16gb SDHC Card

Is your card reader compatible with SDHC cards? While the card will fit into an SD-compatible card reader, it will not work unless the card reader was designed to be SDHC-compatible as well.

16GB Transcend Card Locked

The S2 works with SD cards. Your 16GB card is an SDHC card and will only work in devices (like the A720) that have been designed to work with them. For the S2, you need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

Memory card error with 4gb card

Your camera was made before 4GB SDHC card format came out. Sorry, but a Powershot A610 can only work with 2GB or less standard SD cards. Fortunately, these are very inexpensive these days. If your local store doesn't carry them, then here's some from Amazon.

How to format my camera to fit more pictures on my memory card it is a 16 gig

The A410 works with MMC and SD cards, which are limited to 2GB. While SDHC cards, like your 16GB card, will fit into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You can't format a 16GB SDHC card to behave as a 2GB SD card. You will have to use cards 2GB and smaller.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

A card that size is actually an SDHC card. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different. Many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Hi there,I was wondering if a 4GB SDHC card was suitable for a Cannon IXUS 4.0 or not? I can't seem to format it?

SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible. It is often difficult to find out the maximum capacity card that a camera will use, as today's memory cards are much larger that those available when the manual for the camera was written.

Your camera, introduced in 2006, cannot use SDHC cards, but only 'standard' SD cards up to 2 GB.

You should always format the cards (if needed) in the camera and not in the computer to ensure compability.

YES HI my cam will not turn on. its a powershot a610 cannon cameria

Things to check first are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Details on what needs to be checked may be seen here. It won't work for every case, but it's worth a try.

My canon ixus80is

The Digital ixus 80is is fully SDHC compliant so should work with all SDHC capacities. There are no reports yet of incompatibility with the larger capacity cards as long as they have been supplied from trusted sources.

Every SDHC compliant camera which I've recently dealt with has only had problems when fitted with cards from suspiciously cheap suppliers. If an SDHC card is too cheap then it's almost invariably counterfeit and what's inside the card does not match the label outside, often they're plain low capacity SD cards.

As long as you stick to major brands from trusted sources you should be OK but bear in mind that the 16GB SDHC variants slow the camera functions down significantly compared to using an 8GB model.

I hope that you've found my answer to be of use and ask only that you return the favour by rating my answer.
