I bought Sandisk shdc 16Gb, can i use it on my canon power shot A610?
SOURCE: lost cd installer
Dear heyan:
You didn't say what computer operating system you have but the A610 is compatible with (and will run without drivers on) both Windows XP and Vista. The built-in PTP drivers on both systems should automatically detect your camera and install it without a problem.
As far as an "installer" is concerned, I assume you're referring to the Digital Camera Solutions disc that comes with the camera. This disk contains all the Canon software that comes with the camera. It's nice to have but none of it is necessary to download pictures from your camera.
You can visit the Canon website at www.powershot.com and get any and all downloads available for your camera. Simply click on the Download Library link next to the Canon logo, enter the following in the three drop down menus:
1. Digital Cameras
2. A Series Cameras
3. A610
Then click Go. This will take you to the downloads default page whereupon you simply enter your computer's OS, wait until the page refreshes and then click on and download any file that you want. Just know beforehand however that all of the software downloads, with the exception of any drivers or firmware, are "Updater" versions and requires the full version of the program that came on the disc to be either already loaded on your system or at least present on the CD in your CD drive before it will install the update program.
If you want to use the Canon software and no longer have your CD, you can call Canon at 1-800-828-4040 and purchase another copy at a nominal cost. And if you are within 60 days or so of your camera purchase, you may be able to get a copy sent to you free as a courtesy.
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
HeavyDLB
