Yes, I'm sure that camera will be fine, the 20D some years back was considered OK for wedding images
BUT its more about the quality of the LENS you are using and will it wok in all situations
I used to do a lot of Film work for weddings and used various canon camera bodies, but the lenses where the important factor for speed, composition - I also used a top quality flash unit, that could be used OFF camera. I used a 28mm lens, 50mm 1.8 lens - very high quality and cheaply available, 135mm portrait lens, and various zoom lens
I also always used a tripod, so i could compose the groups and then leave, the camera and go and work with setting up the group, and using a remote take the picture. I also used a flash frame on the flash, so I could turn the camera between portrait and landscape with out worrying about the flash gun

Go to the Canon web site and look at the list of error codes for an explanation. Or Google Canon Error Codes

The camera is over 5 years old, so the battery is now weak. Go to the store, like Best Buy, try with their battery. If it comes on then buy that battery. If you have DVM (digital volt meter), you can check out the battery voltage. But you can not check current safely. [email protected]

Hi, Unfortunately having a shutter replaced, when sending the camera off to Canon takes 8-12 weeks in my experience.

You'll need to shoot RAW. Then in the conversion from RAW to TIFF or JPEG you can specify the DPI. You can do this in Photoshop or in Digital Photo Professional that probably came with your camera.

DPI and Pixel Resolutions are in two different realms, though somewhat related, they are independant. Your camera produces files at the maximum resolution of 4272 x 2848. At 72 dpi, your print will roughly be 60"x40". At 300 dpi, 14.25"x9.493". At 600dpi, 7.12"x4.747", at 1200dpi 3.56"x2.373". Think of cameras in terms of pixel resolution and printers in terms of dpi. When files are inserted into layouts, the embedded dpi value is used. You just need to change the embedded value to match up with the print size you desire. Obviously, if you want a 120"x80" print at 300dpi... you've got the wrong camera. :) Source(s): This is a good site for those interested in more technical details:

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

You could experiment with setting the ISO to 1600 or 800 and use corresponding longer shutter speeds.

manual mode (M) > set the camera to "high speed continuous" shooting> exposure compensation / AEB setting> turn dial on top (used for shutter speed setting in manual mode) for desired setting.

The above is the support page for your 50d camera.

I could not find a 'black' or 'blank' screen problem and solution in the FAQ's.

So, I think that it should be serviced by CanonUSA.com:

Your flex cable to the Iris is broken. Have a look at my gallery at http://www.pbase.com/barry_2718/efs1785mm I have the same symptoms. At 28 or 35mm it make work ok. try Av mode and f8 aperture to see if you get an err01 because the aperture does not move either. Sound like you may have been sold a dead lens I am afraid to say. There are lots of reports about this lens failing after 2 to 3 years of use.

Try to use non-rechargeable LR6 batteries.
If it still does not work the camera needs a repair.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

Until you figure it out, pop out the battery until you use it next time. I have not used this feature. Do your recall how you turned it on?

I have a Metz and a 50d and it does support E-ttl. The Metz is a bit less and it is more versatile than the Cannon and it does support slaves as well. I hope this helps you a bit. I got my Metz from Calumet Photographic. I am sure if you call them, they can tell you the answer.
