How do I set up the scan codes in a Symbol LS4004-I049 Barcode Scanner to read barcodes from books, cd's and dvd's? I am new at using this device and any type of help would be greatly appreciated.
I am also in need of setting up the LS-4004 to be able to read PDF417 barcodes. Binary Bob

Did you make the barcodes using Code 39 or 3 of 9? If so, the scanner defaults to reading between 2 and 55 character Code 39 barcodes. Go to the Motorola Solutions support portal and search for Article ADC-00404 portal motorolasolutions com. Print the article and scan the Code 39 Any Length barcode. Once this is done the scanner will read all Code 39 barcodes.
if you don't have the device application software download it from your cd driver that come with your device and locate the setting of the scanner in the configuration area you will find where you can initialization
The EMEI Barcode and battery barcode are probably not the same length. When the scanner is set for specific length, he will accept only some barcodes.
Please check the length of the barcode.
Set the scanner for two specific lengths or for any length of barcode.
Try to scan again.
To set the scanner you would need programming barcodes. Those are listed in the DS6707 Reference Guide, provided at http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=8397807apdf
Normally I2of5 comes disabled as default in wavelink software.
You will need to enable it and if you are scanning barcodes of different legths, set both the maximum and minimum to 0 value. This will allow any length.
If you still have problems, get back in touch with me and send me a sample barcode as I have a verifier which will allow me to determine whether there may be a problem or not.
Yes, the HHP HandHeld 2D Image Reader (4410lr131) Handheld can read 2D barcodes. This scanner is designed to read 1D and 2D barcodes, making it a versatile tool for a variety of applications. It is also capable of reading multiple barcode types, including PDF417, Data Matrix, and QR codes.
you need to use the code book (the programmers book) to configure the reader, you need to tell it how to communicate with the PC (bit rate, stop bits etc....)
this code book should have come with the reader...
this book has barcodes on many pages and also configures the types of barcodes that the scanner can read....
if you do not have the code book you can download it from the maufacturers website
you should have a code book that came with the scanner, the code book allows you to program the scanner's options, the code book takes you step by step through the programming proccess. each option requires you to scan varios barcodes to "set" the various options
one of the options will be to set the barcodes you wish to use, this is set to avoid a misread (confusion between barcode standards)
