How do I get my scanner to go to the next line/box when using Excel?

Hello,

In your programming manual there is a barcode scan that needs to be scanned in that adds the carriage return function. To do this you will first need to scan the barcode to put the unit into program mode, then scan the carriage return barcode, then scan the end programming code. Now when you scan a barcode the scanner will add the return to the sequence it sends to the computer. If you can't find your programming book you can download the sheets from the Symbol web site.

Hi,

This can be possible, therefore it is not an Excel setting. You would need
to use the software that comes with your bar-code reader to configure this.

Try looking in your bar-code reader documentation for "Append Enter" or
"Append Carriage Return"

What would I put under the suffix and prefix when bar coding? My scanner is Symbole LS 2208
Hello Norma, you can use the suffix or prefix to send characters, which are not included in the barcodes tgehter with the scanned barcode data.
If you dont need any character before or after the data, you can leave it blank.
It is usually used to add an Enter or Tab to switch to the next line, while scanning to some application like excel.

Cant open Excel files. Not even from emails with Excel attached
Hi,
either your MS Office Installation is currupt or your system in infected with a virus.
Please scan your system using a good virus scanner. (Please uninstall any prior scanner if you have and pl avoid using McAfee for the time being).

Now open your excel go to Office button
Office Button --> Excel Options --> Resources --> Diagnose
if problem comes during diagnosis, please connect your system to internet and if fails, please reinstall office again.

You don't say how your program is not working, but one of the problems with your code is where you have x=x+1. Loops using For Next don't need a statement to add 1 to the value of x. The variable x will automatically be increased by 1 each time the program reaches the Next x statement. Your program should be
Dim x as integer: For x=0 to 100: textbox(x).backcolor=vbWhite: Next x

If you would like the scanner to drop down to the next line scan the barcodes Scan Options, Data Suffix, Enter from the Quick Start Guide that should have come with the scanner. If you do not have the QRG then download the Product Reference Guide from this link:

Move to next cell in excel
In Excel 2003 Offline help, i see this helpful note:

Change which cell is selected next When you press ENTER to finish working in a cell, Microsoft Excel moves you to an adjacent cell or leaves you in the current cell.
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Edit tab.
  2. To move to an adjacent cell, select the Move selection after Enter check box, and then select a direction in the Direction box. To stay in the current cell, clear the check box

Symbol LS2208 Barcode Scanner Not Recognising Barcodes When Operated In Horizontal Orientation Hi,We have a Symbol LS2208 barcode scanner that will work when in a vertical (upright) position (as if scanning a barcode on a wall) but will not work in a horizontal orientation (as if scanning a barcode on a table). This is true for both hands free and hand operated functions... Does anyone have a suggestion to get the horizontal orientation scanning correctly.
