SOURCE: dell d620 will not go into charge mode

This is usually caused by a bad battery. Sounds like both batteries are not working properly. They may still hold some charge, but they are wearing out. After all, they are batteries, and bateries wear out. Keep in mind that some batteries are better than others, even though they may be the same brand, some will hold a charge longer, and some wear out faster. I'm on my second new battery in a year and a half on my Dell, the first held a great charge but wore out after approx 8 months, the one I'm using now still charges fine but only last about an hour and 15 mins.

SOURCE: Dell C400 Laptop Battery not charging

Go into the battery properties and check if the battery is charging. If it says it is, then test it, use the battery to see if it really is charging, they will sometimes give a false reading. If it's not charging, then check the power supply with an ohm meter for the proper output. If this all checks good, but the battery isn't charging, then I'm afraid you have a failed power management system on the motherboard. The power management system controls the charging along with other power related aspects of the machine. If the power management system has failed, then unfortunately, you will have to replace the motherboard in order to fix it.

SOURCE: I have a Dell D600 (PP05L), its not powering up no

Hook up your power adaptor to ac power without it being hooked up to the laptop and see if the green light stays on. If it does then you know your adaptor is okay. if your adaptor is only hooked up to ac power and the green light still turns off then you know your ac adaptor is bad.

Take out the battery from your laptop. Now hook up the ac adaptor to the laptop and if it stays green then you know your battery is bad but you also want to make sure you can get your laptop to turn on. Hopefully it will turn on with only the ac adaptor hooked up to it.

I got dell optiplex 755 desktop computer in the power supply unit at the back there is a small button and a green light what are these for??

It help diagnose problems with your computer

A solid green light means the computer is operating normally.

A solid yellow:- the power is operating fine but your computer not processing data. This could mean there is a problem with the CPU or another component on the motherboard.

A blinking yellow light: power supply is receiving power from the wall, but not functioning properly. This generally means the power supply itself is bad and should be tested or replaced.

A blinking green light means the computer is in standby mode

Dell Inspiron 530 - Plug it in, immediately powers up, PS fan and Video card fan start, power button shows amber light and does not turn off power, motherboard shows amber light instead of green;...

Hi

This seems like a power management problem on the motherboard.

Disconnect the power cable. Remove the small silver CMOS battery for 2 minutes to clear the BIOS Memory. Reinstall the battery and reconnect the power.

Look carefully at the power lines coming from the Power Supply Unit (PSU) and make sure that no one power channel is powering an unequal load of devices. Try and divide the load as evenly as possible amonst the power lines.

If none of this solves the problem, then consider upgrading the fitted 300W PSU to one with a higher Wattage, as 300W is on the low side for current standards. 450W-500W is more typical nowadays. The higher the Wattage you can afford (up to a 650W maximum for this particular specification of PC) the better

A higher wattage PSU will work well within its capacity and therefore under less strain than the current one. The symptoms you describe could be signs of the current PSU straining at the limits of its performance range to power all the devices inside as well as maintaining the computer's heavy workload of interaction with all the devices connected to it.

I hope this helps.

Dell inspiron 6000 dead when connect power adeptor to laptop the led light on psu goes off is this mother board fault or psu.

If the led on the power supply turns off after connecting it to your laptop, the problem most likely lies with the power supply especially if the machine will run on battery power. This can be tested by

1. Turn the laptop off.

2. Remove the battery and power supply plug.

3. Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to reset the laptop.

4. Replace the power supply plug into the laptop without replacing the battery.

5. If the computer will not start and there are no lights turning on on the laptop the power supply is bad.

6. Replace the battery and attempt to start the machine both with and without the power supply plugged in.

If pluged into light not powering at all

Firstly insert the battery. When you plug the PSU into the machine does a charging light turn on? If not then check the fuse in the mains plug as it may have blown. If the fuse is OK then you may have a defective PSU, although the motherboard could also be defective. Try a new PSU to determine if which component is faulty.
Now remove the battery and insert the PSU. Will the machine turn on or do any power lights illuminate? If power lights illuminate and the machine will not turn on then I would suggest the motherboard is at fault. If the machine turns on briefly the turns off before displaying the splash screen then I would suggest the RAM, CPU or motherboard is at fault.
If the unit works without the battery installed then it is probably a battery problem, although it is possible the charging circuit on the motherboard is fried.
Hope this helps,
www.PuterCare.com
Black screen power light blinking not green but color orange

It sounds like your PSU is defective. If you replace your PSU it should resolve the issue, this is quite common with some toshiba power supplies. The flashing light is to let you know the battery is empty or the system is in hibernation. Hope this helps,

Battery has gone dead. When I plug the A/C cord in the light on the charger immediately goes out and won't charge battery.

try connecting ac adapter alone without the laptop, check if ac adapter light will stay green or blue.
try another power outlet using the ac adapter alone without the laptop check if the ac adapter light will stay as green or blue. if all fails replace ac adapter.

if ac adapter stays green or blue try connecting to the laptop without the batt, check if the ac adapter light will stay on, if yes then try connecting ac adapter to laptop with the batt plugin check if the light stays green. if not update the BIOS. if fails replace motherboard.

Dell Dimension E510 will not turn on

It could be.

When you switch on after it has been turned off for a while look at the fan on the PSU as you switch on.

If it spins or tries to spin for a very short time then I would indeed suspect the psu.

If however the psu fan does spin for longer and you can hear any beeps then that would be an indication of a different problem.

Should that be the case then check here.

Dell Inspiron 1721 - screen goes black

check the light on the power supply that you are hooked up to. before you plug it into the laptop see if there is a green light when the plug has power from the wall. if you see a green light on...good. it means the power supply is responding correctly so far. if you get no green light, then your transformer is out in the psu. if you get a green light and plug in to the laptop and the light goes out, one of two things could be going on. first there could be a short in the psu like the previous tech said, the second more serious issue could be the power controller on the motherboard. they've been known to go out. like the tech before said. try another power supply if you can. but if you are getting a green light on the power supply before you plug it in...there may be another problem with it.

good luck!
