Monitor Problems For the past week or so, I have noticed that the screen of my monitor has a slight pinkish hue when turned on and now it is lightly flickering. I have checked all the plugs and everything is fine. Does this mean that my monitor is probably about to die?

A pink or red tint indicated that florescent back light bulbs that light up the monitor are going out. When they start to die they out out red or pink light instead of white light like they should. They bulbs are replaceable but not easy for someone not familiar with this type of repair. Parts would run about $30 plus shipping and are available online but it may not be worth the repair on the monitor due to age.

Assuming you've already checked your driver and system settings, tried a different monitor, and checked the cable and connector pins, this would almost certainly be a problem with the power or signal circuit board inside the monitor.

SOURCE: Monitor has developed a permanent dark turquoise hue.

Did you ever try the original monitor on another machine. If the new monitor is displaying the same symptoms as the old one then your video card is the culprit.

Its the capacitors on the backlight power supply. Samsung installed crappy ones and they blow up after a year or two. Change out the caps and you're good to go

Hello !

Since an external monitor works, it is the display's backlight or inverter board.

If you were experiencing discoloration in the screen (pinkish lower light hues) before it failed, that would indicate a CCFL backlight issue. If the screen suddenly went dim on you rather than a slow degradation the inverter would be indicated.

In either case, a technician in your area should be able to help. Evaluate to see if the repair is cost-effective.

Hope this helps.

When an LCD starts getting pinkish to redish hues, the screen is starting to fail. You are in the biggining stages of losing the screen. There is no repair....only replacement.

Problem with monitor

Hi.
Are you able to see a slight image on it at dusk and maybe with the help of a flashlight. since your blue light stays on the video board, may be okay.
It sounds like you have bad capacitors on your powerboard or possibly a burned out transistor on the inverter.

Only way to really tell is to open it up.
If you unplug the screen to video board ribbon, you may notice a different effect in the screen lighting.
There is a chance one of your bulbs is creating a problem
Should the screen happen to light up all white, then your power board and inverter are okay and the problem may be in the video board.
If it looks pinkish or dark or flickers then the bulbs or a bulb may be the issue.
If it flashes on then goes off, it's in the power or inverter board.
