Hi bluemags,
It is true that you should use a higher power I.C., I do that all the
time. However, the one to use is the STK392-120. This one is rated at 5
Amps unlike the STK392-110, 150, which are both rated at 3 Amps. I have
not checked the data sheet on the 180. They are all OEM, since Sanyo
designed them all. Beware of generic knockoffs not made by Sanyo. The
generic I.C.s do not have the quality as the Sanyo originals.
Best Regards,

SOURCE: What is the best IC replacement for original IC part# STK393-110?
Sayo makes the best IC's, don't just settle for the cheap ones. I have see this ic for as low as $5.00 on the internet.
I would also advise that the convergence IC’s be OEM or better, just because they are cheap does not mean that they are a good deal. I have seen the cheap IC’s fail after a short time, even though they look exactly like the OEM IC’s. I think that the bottom line is that you will get what you pay for when it comes to the parts.
You can try http://www.tvrepairkits.com/ they do carry OEM or better parts.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

This model uses a Single convergence IC---a STK-393-110.
If convergence is skewed and will not adjust the chip needs to be replaced.
Most shops get 300 or more for this repair---you can buy the IC on Ebay for about 12 dollars--total parts cost should be under 30 dollars.
I have Start to finish, step by step instructions for this repair in this set--they tell you everything you will need and how to do the repair.
Let me know if you have questions or want the instructions.
If this helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.
