Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move t5yr old philips rear projecter tv color bad 50inch - 2c07611.pngdirections your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around 5yr old philips rear projecter tv color bad 50inch - 578ba6c.jpg

How can you tell if the bulb is burned out on a RCA 52 inch projection

If you are missing one of the colors but still have an image (red, green or blue). Real simple, turn on the TV and see if there are any colors missing from those. Most rear projections have a color bar you can put up or a converge feature which is used for aligning the colors for a clear picture.

My philips 55pw9363 has yellow tint I took off the back the blue bulb has no pic in it like the other two but light is bright

It means you have Bad Coolant Fuild in the Blue Tube, most of the time it will be the green and blue tubes and it needs to be changed and New Coolant Fuild put in it. Philips is the worlds worst having bad coolant fuild in tubes.

Colors shadowing eachother, adj convergence, but will not save.

Sounds like your convergence IC chips have failed. You can buy the parts from various suppliers or you can just get a complete repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com

Bad color blue green bad pic tried adj covergence no luck

The problem is either poor solder connections on the convergence ICs ore defective ICs. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Be aware however, of dangerous high voltages that are present even with the set unplugged. The ICs are STK392-120s and should be attached to a large heatsink. Try resoldering the pins first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the ICs.

Bad picture

A 10 year old Rear Projection tv is usually at the end of its life. No such thing as "fluid". Best advice, get a new TV.
