I have a u line fridge/icemaker undercabinet model that does not seem to be cooling- it had not been turned on for for quite some time but a few weeks ago we turned it on and it seemed to cool but we noticed how much hot air was coming from under the unit and thought that was normal-then after a few weeks it wasn't cooling anymore - I pulled off the lower front grill and cleaned the lint on the coils --(quite a bit)-- and turned it back on-the fan motor is on but I don't feel the hot air like before and it doesn't seem to be cooling-the fan motor does seem to be running----Do you think it got to hot with the coils not have been cleaned for so long/-We just bought the house a few months ago so I don't have any history of this unit-I see where the ice maker hose has been disconnected so I don't know if the ice maker even works.

Make sure it is level, has proper airflow out through top vent. Also check baffle, or stack where flame sits under and blow it out good with compressed air to make sure it's clean. If you smell a hint or strong smell of ammonia, shut it off, it has a leak in cooling unit. If all ok in that area, shut it off, disconnect and plug propane line, disconnect power and remove the fridge. Turn the fridge upside down for a day or 2, then re-install and let it sit 24 hrs before turning it back on. Quite often that will take care of any blockage in flow of cooling liquid, and get things back to normal if cooling unit is still good.

Try defrosting it, if this doen't work then do the following and ur problem will be solved..

BLOW AIR THROUGH THE DRIAN HOSE IN THE BACK OR BOTTOM OF THE FRIDGE FIND THE END OF THE DRAIN HOSE USE AIR COMPRESSOR .....

Due to your refrig having the ice bin on the door , it could be a little bit more difficult to diagnose . Pour about 1/2 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump , then the problem is the icemaker . When you open the freezer door , does the laser lite flash 2 times then pause then 2 times etc.? If the lite does not flash , it means the icemaker is in the harvest mode (dumping) . If stuck in the harvest mode , replace the icemaker . If the icemaker dumps the frozen cubes , then the black fill tube above the fill cup , could be frozen , or the water inlet valve is bad . If you feel ice in the black tube ,(water valve bad due to slow drop leak ) you'll need to pull the fridge from the wall , and see if there is a plastic coupling on the tube going up to the icemaker . If not , you should get one in case of future problems . Cut the tube (or disconnect the fitting ) (if you can blow thru it , black tube is not stopped up with ice ) and turn the icemaker off . Turn the freezer setting down a number or two . Go by ocassionally to see if you can blow thru the line . This water line goes between the top of refrig and the inner liner . Bad design because if it freezes , no way to get to it . Can try hair dryer on top of refrig . I have known it to take several days for this line to thaw .

Realized after studying the parts list (on kitchenaid.com) for the model that the screw I couldn't get back in is BROKEN . Repairman coming tomorrow. Maybe that is why the thing sits so low ...

The first step you need to do is to turn the water off to the refrigerator so it quits making until you get it fixed.
If your fridge has the control boards in each side of the freezer cabinet that controls the icemaker, then you have a failed board. If you have a standard icemaker with the metal shutoff arm then you have a failed motor module in the icemaker. You can remove the icemaker and unplug the wiring connector from it so you can leave the water on to the dispenser.

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.

Own the same model, the icemaker and the dispenser work properly but the leak is top center of the refrigerator compartment.

sounds like the line was frozen but the water fill indicator is faulty.
