My Curtis DVD player stopped responding at all.

I have only watched a handfull of movies in this machine, but suddenly it does not even attempt to load the DVD. The device does not spin or seem to recognize that a movie is even installed. This DVD player has an on/off switch in the back and I have tried turning it off and on and messing with different options using the power button and the on and off switch together with no success.

If the unit is less than one year old take it back to the place of purchase for repair or exchange, this is clearly a manufacture defect.

SOURCE: My DVD player wont read a disc

There are several things you can do to try and solve your problem: Make sure that the DVDs you try to play are encoded for the right region. Make sure that the transportation lock (usually a plastic screw on the bottom of the unit), is not engaged. Turn off player with disc inserted, unplug temporarily from wall outlet, plug back in and turn back on.

SOURCE: movie does not play

Try playing Different DVDs, Second Make sure which Region Disk your playing is it Region 1 or Region 2, If your DVD player is Manufactured in USA it plays only Region 1, If its manufactured in UK it plays only Region 2, If still you face same problem Use Lens Cleaner, If still you face same problem do Reset.
To Reset Dvd player, Remove DVD from Dvd Player, Unplug Power chord from Walloulet for 15minutes so player goes to Defult Factor Settings, Then plug back again Power chord. Turn on Dvd player insert DVD, It should Play or else Claim Warranty.

SOURCE: Player suddenly freezes

Try running a dvd cleaner through it first, before trying anything else (the type that looks like a DVD with a brush underneath).

The regular DVD might have been a fluke (scratches, rental?, burned dvd?)

Was there anything special about the new Blu-Ray Disc - what was the tile? On certain titles, you may need the firmware upgrade found at:

Hi Thomas!
You may try installing the latest Firmware update from the link given below:
http://www.esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=4704&mdl=BDPS300

Please read all information thoroughly before downloading and installing the file.

If the issue persists then try performing the following troubleshooting steps:

If the issue persists even after performing all the above steps then service will be required.

I desperately need a remote for my Curtis Mathis TV. I am trying to watch a DVD (Magnavox DVD Player) and I can't locate my remote to change to "Video 1" to be able to watch the movie. Do I have to...

Try remotes.com for a substitute remote. I believe the exact URL for your model is: http://remotes.com/store/curtis_mathes/cm27002s.html . Universal remotes are available but the cheap ones may not do all of the features of the original remote.

I hope this helps.

Dvd player will not open disc, display lock

Sound like it either has one or two problems, the door is stuck and or the door eject motor has failed. Look in the front to the player for a small paperclip like hole, and use a paper clip to manual eject the and engage the loading mechanism usually located under the door for most cases. Check you manuals troubleshooting section for manually ejecting a CD..

Curtis DVD-8009 picture freezes

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Curtis DVD 5091 Home Theatre System

I believe I have the solution....but it depends on your dvd player's zuxilarily capabilities. Do you have a second set of OUTPUT plugs that are colored Red and White on the back of the TV? Do you have a separate Red and White INPUT plugs on the back of the dvd? The TV must use the speakers in the DVD system by pushing the sound OUT. You cannot accomplish this if the dvd is only pluged into the INPUT of the tv.
\Another option is o make sure your DVD player has a "auxilary" or separate input channel on the console or remote.
I have a DVD home theatre system as well, not the same brand, but that shouldn't make a difference . Its a matter of how the sound is received.

Hope that helped.
