Curtis DVD5091 Theater System Questions & Answers
Curtis DVD 5091 Home Theatre System
I believe I have the solution....but it depends on your dvd player's zuxilarily capabilities. Do you have a second set of OUTPUT plugs that are colored Red and White on the back of the TV? Do you have a separate Red and White INPUT plugs on the back of the dvd? The TV must use the speakers in the DVD system by pushing the sound OUT. You cannot accomplish this if the dvd is only pluged into the INPUT of the tv.
\Another option is o make sure your DVD player has a "auxilary" or separate input channel on the console or remote.
I have a DVD home theatre system as well, not the same brand, but that shouldn't make a difference . Its a matter of how the sound is received.
Hope that helped.

I'm having the same problem and have found the manual to troubleshoot at Curtis's site - http://www.curtisint.com/web/products.asp?brand=CURTIS&subCat=HOMESYSMJR&catName=DVD%20HOME%20SYSTEMS
Show me how to set
The speakers should not be a problem. All the sockets are labeled left / center / right / left surround / right surround and subwoofer.
Connect the yellow composite video out to the TV's yellow composite video in . Along with video out of the Curtis you can connect two red and white audio out to the TV's audio in socket.

Setting up this system, i can t adjust the volume
Drawing audio from a TV has its limitations. Refer to the TV's manual regarding volume control of the audio OUTPUT.
If you MUST go this way, I'd still suggest using a Fixed output so you can turn the TV's speakers down or off without killing the signal to the Curtis. (TV's are on the low end of the audio food chain and actually will degrade rather than improve it.)
You could get the BEST possible TV-related audio directly and digitally from the source you're watching.
Getting tv in surround
you need to plug rca cables into the audio out of your tv providing it has them then go to the setting menu in the tv go into the sound options and turn on surround sound
How do I hook up the system to my cable box to
If you mean you want to hear TV programs through this unit, you can't. It has no inputs.
But you could try this. Many cable boxes have internal volume controls or a variable output. Find that first or else FULL volume may be sent to the speakers after the following steps.
Disconnect the cables from the Front Left and Front Right inputs on the powered subwoofer, select 2 channel mode (just below the Input section) and plug in an a pair of RCA analog audio cables from the cable box Audio Out. It may work but I don't know if you can control the volume at the Curtis this way.
How Curtis 5091 DVD home theatre speakers can hang on the wall
I dont think I would use adhesive because of the vibration. Have you considered using a picture hanger? the short brass ones with the little divits on the bottom? I know that would mean permenantly attaching them, but they would be invisible from the front.
