SOURCE: I need a video tutorial on how to replace the
All you need to do is leaver off the power button strip with a thin screwdriver. The power button strip has a slight gap at each side this is where you insert the thin screwdriver or thin leaver.
The power button strip has two plastic locking down lugs at each side they hold it in place.
Do it from the power on button side first with the screen flat backwards or you will pop off some keys.
Getting off the power button strip is the hardest part without poping off keys or scratching the case.
Unscrew the single silver screw to release the key board this screw is located slightly to the right of center although there are four locking down tabs on the keyboard it is only held down in the second one from the right. (It’s the longest screw in the laptop)
Push the keyboard slightly forward then tilt the keyboard towards you and lay flat (you should have enough strap to do that)
If you want to remove the keyboard completely you have to lift up the left and right lug each side of the strap)
Just at the right top edge of the strap connector you will see a silver headed screw, remove it.
The CD/DVD writer is now free however at the end nearest to you it is pushed into its electrical socket which is part of the motherboard.
If you press on the silver metal bit that you removed the screw from (looks a bit like a top chopped off triangle) the writer will slid out of its electrical socket, the device will come out from the right side of the laptop.
Remember if you are replacing the writer you will have to get one with the correct electrical socket.
Replacement is the reverse of removal. Slid in the DVD writer make sure it slots into the electrical socket. Put the locking screw back in. Locate the keyboard in its forward slots and slide in the strap, lock it into its connector, by pushing down the lugs either side. Lock down the keyboard with its screw and push back into place. Push the power button plastic strip into place.
Do the operation with the battery out and the power adaptor disconnected.
Hope this is clear enough and helps.
