SOURCE: Birds nests under fabric and thread breaking.

My manual says the needle thread tension is too loose , OR the needle is to fine/heavy for the thread being used.

SOURCE: thread on bobbin looping

Sounds like you need to adjust the bobbin casing tension (tighten the little screw on the bobbin case). I would also oil the face of the bobbin casing so that the thread wont snag or tug on it at all.

SOURCE: Kenmore 100 stitch 385 Bobbin thread does not

make sure that you have enough of a tail on your thread, at least 3-4 inches and hold it with your left hand until the needle picks up the thread. I am assuming that you have your bobbin threaded correctly and your needle is inserted with the flat side facing the rear of the machine.

Singer 1022 Sewing Machine. The thread keeps breaking on it.

Question edited for clarity.

I was built before cell phones or desktop computers! Older sewing machines are more reliable that the new fancy electronic ones.

Broken thread is usually caused by old rotten thread, cotton breaks down, or you may have a bad batch. Or it is caused by incorrect threading, or incorrect tension (upper or even bobbin tension). Or the machine needs cleaning, servicing and timing.

Manual to check threading and tension.

Model 466. Why doesn't it pick up bobbin thread?

This means the rotary hook is not catching the top thread and looping it around the bobbin.

Be sure the needle is not bent and top thread is properly threaded. Be sure needle is properly oriented and seated in the needle bar.

Be sure you have bobbin properly wound, inserted, and threaded per machine instructions.

Try cleaning hook and race area if still having trouble.

If it was working fine and it recently broke a needle and/or jammed, the timing may have slipped.

I am after a manual for my Singer 1832U machine. I am having problems with looper threads snapping

Singer 1832U Manuals

Usually, breaking threads are a result of misthreading. Remove all the threads from the machine. AVOID old or bargain bin threads! ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning--make sure each thread is threaded in the proper order.

Make sure the needle is threaded properly. If the thread is going through the needle in the wrong direction, the thread won't be picked up.
