Canon powershot SD750 will not turn on.

I dropped my camera (Powershot SD750) on a tile floor and it will not turn on. When it was dropped the battery came out which I then put back in. When the camera did not respond, I removed the battery and
charged it to a full charge. The camera is still not turning on.
I am getting no response at all. Please advise.

My camera Sd750 also stopped working suddenly, It feels like Canon has put a timer in the Camera so that it stops working after a year or so. I had the same problem with one of their printer.

Hi
There are several things that could cause this.

1- Check the battery door indicator switch under the battery door and beside the memory card slot. Is the little black switch damaged or missing? Try pressing down gently using a pen it with the door open and then press the power button. Does it turn on?

2- The fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. Offhand I don't recall where it is on the SD750 PCB or how hard it is to solder on a new one (depends on if its tricky to get at or not). Good thing is fuses are really cheap.

3- Other power problem with the PCB due to corrosion or impact damage. The PCB or 'motherboard' of the camera will need to be replaced.

I had the same issue on a SD770 IS. The problem was the switch has a vertical black pin that is triggered when the battery cover door is closed and latched. The switch is to the left of the memory card. See photo.

Further, a drop of Gorilla Glue on the white tab on the battery door cover will extend the tab just enough to trigger the switch. See photo.

The camera will not turn on.

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

Hi,

If this is the case, the camera might have internal damage. Might be better to send it back to Canon delears/shop for repair. Please try below link

Dropped SD750 on floor, now won't turn on

That's a hard one to analyze through email. A camera tech would have to use test equipment on it to see if the power section got shorted when the door opened when it hit the floor. It may not be a cheap or easy fix, but only a tech can tell. I have heard of cameras getting damaged, just from putting batteries in backwards, so a short circuit might have damaged a chip inside. Of course a warranty does not cover dropped cameras, but you might want to have them look at it and tell you what it will cost.

I just dropped my Canon SD750 and now it won't turn on. Is there a reset button?....or am I out of luck?

I had a Cannon EasyShare CX7000 many years ago, had the same problem exactly, Canon cameras are not that durable when it comes to dropping it, but I have a Cannon Powershot SD1000 and I have dropped it numerous times and it still functions like it's new. three words REPLACE YOUR CAMERA. oh, and there is no reset button, you are out of luck

My sd750 will not start up

Does the lens cover move when you do this? If it doesn't, it sounds like that might be the problem.

My canon powershot dosnt turn on

your camera has one of two issues.

  1. blown fuse this requires micro serface mount soldering.
  2. bad battery door switch
if you can not repair this or reather a shop do it we charge 75.00 plus shipping to fix it for you.

This is only a good price if their is no water damage and no lights come on at all.

Diagnosis is free.
