I have the same problem. Can't download any upgrades and the Option menu in the iriver plus doesn't enable the upgrade option.

System files missing

oooh thats a tough one. lets see, if it will still connect to the computer, the iriver tools that are used to update firmware should work. try to put it into restore mode by holding the right front button immediately after reset (use a pin or toothpick to hit the button on top) and plug it into your pc. hopefully those files are still intact. doing a refresh of the firmware should work. if not i believe there are repair tools for the h10 on irivers support page. http://www.iriverinc.com/lounge/loungeView.asp?selectPart=02&findWord=&sno=685&page=1&cateCode=02 this is a link to the page that has recovery tools and firmware update tools. Hope this helps!

IRIVER WONT WORK AAAAHHH HELP!!!!!? my iriver wont work when i try to turn it on it comes up and says system files missing to restore the system files, connect to iriver plus wat dose that mean i have...

Hello,

When system files are missing on the player, you will need to reinstall the FIRMWARE.

When looking online for the connection type for the H10 / H10JR, I can see 2 CONNECTION TYPES for the H10 / H10JR:
1. MTP, when using Windows Media Player 11 ( WMP11 ), for the H10.
2. iRiver Plus, when using iRiver PLUS, for the H10JR.

The connection type determines what software on the computer will be used for transferring media.
Each software on the computer needs corresponding firmware on the player to be installed.
When the player itself comes up with the information to connect to iRiver PLUS, this is the correct software for this device probably. Then the device is a H10JR.

When not having the program iRiver PLUS, go to the iRiver support site, for the download:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0302
In the left column click Plus3 and go for the download.
Run iriver plus 3 and then select [Tools > Portable Device > Firmware Upgrade] from the menu.

Need more help ? Just post a comment.
In case you have the other model player, the H10, let me know if you need assistance for its recovery.

System files missing

I got this from another post:

1) plugged in H10 to pc that didn't have any iriver software on it
a) I've read if you press the "o" button on the iRiver H10 when connecting it will just connect as a usb mass storage device
2) the H10 now appears as a mass storage device
3) right click on the drive, and select format ( I choose quick format)
4) install the iRiverFirmware updater from http://iriveramerica.com/support/mtpupdate/
5) when you run the updater, it found the H10, then asked if the device was from USA or Europe, mine was from Europe
6) It stated that the iRiver firmware was v0.0, and would install v2.51 (I've seen v2.53 available on the european iriver website but could not download it).
7) proceed with installing the updated firmware
8) on the last screen it says, unplug to complete firmware update - NOTE press Finish first before unplugging
9) switching on the iRiver it 'rebooted' a few times and then when the menu appeared, I connected to the pc and just dropped some mp3 files into the music directory and all was okay.

hope this helps.
Also go here for the firmware directly: http://iriverinc.com/support/hd/h10_5-6gb.aspx

I need to restore the system files for my H10 Iriver MP3 player

go to www.iriver.com people - what the f--- do you think it means?

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Cannot transfer files

go to http://www.iriver.com/support/down_view.asp?searchProductIdx=73&searchCategoryIdx=1&searchString=new+firmware&page=1&idx=844&tmpSearchProductIdx=&tmpSearchCategoryIdx=&tmpSearchString=

download the updater. unzip the file and run the installation program. after you have install the iriver firmware updater, run the program. it will automatically detect what you need. follow the instructions. if the updater stops at 50% don't worry. wait bout a min or 2 then unplug your T30 and it will update by itself

Iriver H10 "System files missing".

Okay, my IRiver broke with the same kind of problems but I've managed to fix it!

First off i connected the IRiver to the pc, and whilst it was connecting, pressed the 'select' button (the one on the front with the circle on it) to force it to connect.

Next i right clicked on it and selected format to wipe everything off it (just to make sure it was blank).

Next, go to www.iriver.com and on the left hand side click Support->Download and click on H10 in the product box. On that page should be a file to download called "[MTP]H10 5G/5G Pure/6G Firmware Upgrader/Recovery Tool(US & EU only)". The download icon is just underneath the title of it, so download, unpack using winrar ot winzip etc, then double click and follow the instructions.

It wiped the songs off, but i have an IRiver that works! Its an awful product in my opinion, but better to have it working than not. Can't guarentee that it'll work for everyone but it fixed mine first time.

Hope it helps!

Iriver H10 saying system Files missing

Try doing a format via windows explorer. Right click on the drive and then format as fat32. Then unplug and open iriver plus. Reconnect. See if that works. Good luck!
