The software you need is called the iRiver Music Manager. This includes the drivers for your player. The link to download it is http://iriverinc.com/support/ultra/iFP-manager-pc.aspx . Just click the blue text that says "iriver Manager 3.16". Good luck!

i also have a problem with a ifp 790 i have windows xp but when i try to put
tunes into the player and try to play them a window comes up telling me that i have 14 tunes but when i press play it says not supported ogg format
I can't believe iriver just figures that no one will want to continue to use their product by omitting any updates for the IFP-790. I have the red IFP-790 (256mb) that comes up as IFP-700 when connected via USB. This unit works on my desktop - (windows XP) with the iriver software fine. My 2005 laptop (XP) refuses to recognize it even after installing the software. I've tried opendriver and other sites that offer drivers to fix the problem without success. I did get a HEX file but that wouldn't open or install. I wish windows XP would recognize this unit as an additional drive. I'm disappointed, but I will still use this unit with my desktop.
