If you want to use the iFP 800 series with windows Vista or 7, upgrade the firmware (see link below) http://www.iriverinc.com/lounge/loungeView.asp?selectPart=02&findWord=&sno=832&page=1&cateCode=02 to UMS mode, which allows you to use Explorer to transfer your files to and from the IRiver. The only disadvantage that I know about is that your recording quality gets limited to 96kbps (from 128kbps). Other than that, it works perfectly.

I can´t connect to my PC with my iRiver device (iFP-890) and Wi Vista 64 with SP1, not trough Music Manager or Explorer.
I´v followed the instructions above.

Look at : www.iriveramerica.com/vista/
This gives instructions - basically can't use WMP11.1
They say to set program to run on Windows XP w SP2
If this doesn't help
You can probably just drag & drop files directly from Explorer.

The truth is that this mp3 player turned out to be a very sturdy device.i have used and abused mine.and it has outlasted windows me,xp and vista.so what would be the insetive to provide a solution for this product. they want you to buy a new one. if you have an old computer with xp, copy your music files to it and loadit htat way

i cant use my iriver mp3 player on windows vista
Vista won't even recognize my IFP-899 on explorer. In Device Manager it says there is no driver for the device. I know it worked on the same Vista computer about a year ago. I can't find the drive anywhere, even in the iRiver website. What's up with that?
