Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the site linked here. RCA RCR 412S remote control has no setup codes with Magnavox TV/DVD combo. Just look for any other brand remote control. OK.

What brand is your universal remote? Best thing would be to go on the universal remote manufactures website and they should have a list of codes for models based on what model number your universal remote is. Then you can look up possible codes for your tv found in the users manual (which you can print from online) and it gives you like 5-7 codes that you try and will give you instructions on how to enter the code and save that code to your remote. I hope that helps.
