I seem to have completely lost the ability to send and receive sms on my 6365. Dont know exactly what has happened and unsure how to get it back up and running.
Can anyone please help.
Please perform following steps. Take the back up of data. Clean the battery. Hardware reset.
Perform the Hard reset
1. Press and hold the Answer/Send, Power, and End Call buttons. 2. While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button until the device restarts. 3. When the HP iPAQ restarts, release all of the buttons, and then remove the stylus from the Reset button.

Just Restore factory settings it will get solved. If the problem not solved then call your service provider they will tell you about the settings you just set that settings on your IPaq

SMS problem: Remove the SIM card. Start the phone without the sim card. Try sending an SMS (still without the Sim card). The SMS will of course fail to be sent. Now put the Sim card back in , switch on and try again sending SMS - it should now work. Sometimes you will need to repeat the procedure another time for it to work. I've no idea why this works but it does for me.
Mic problem: I found this to be a bad connection in the socket for the headset. Plugging and unplugging the headset a few times and perhaps wiggling it around a little has always solved the problem for me - at least until now. I suppose at some time or other the connector will break completely.
My HP IPAQ HW 6515 dont have voice when in calling position, like a mic muting, but in display mic is not muting, so my destination call cannot hear my voice, but in camera can be record the voice.
I had that problem, normally, when you use the Advanced View in the Sprint Backup software, you can choose which objects you want to save, but if you don't mark SMS or ActiveSync will have problems later. Solution, make a hard reset, only way I found.
Hello Brian,
The SMS folder dissapears most probably because another program interferes with it. The same happens on some HP's with camera, where this options dissapears from menu because of some user installed programs.
In your case, it doesn't have to be a SMS - messaging related program, there are some compatibility issues and programs that apparently doen't have anything to do with messaging are causing this.
You should first try a master reset (hard reset) (save your data first). However in some cases this doesn't help, even if the program that's causing the problem is removed, and you will need a firmware rewrite/update. In order to perform this, or if you don't want to risk performing it yourself please contact me on the live assistance for step by step instuctions.
Good luck, Bogdan.
If after a hard reset the PDA doesn't give you back the sms folder, it is most likely to asume that a ROM reinstall must be done. If you have a USB sync cable, check the HP site and download the ROM version for your Ipaq. Carefull with the rom upgrade, it's a simple process but must be done with care and by the instructions given there.
So there are good reviews of the 6515 over at Dave's Ipaq. Various people have been testing them out and reviewing them. Your questions might get answered more over there?
