well it can only be 2 things,
the card is bad, and the do go bad.
or the drivers are wrong
why not find the true name if the card, on the card
the using HP.COm use the correct driver for that card.
HP can uses 2 or 3 different cards, some have blutooth.
its not just one offered.
this LP is old, its seems its got XP on it,? the virus magnet.
why not get a newer LP say year 2010 and newer with W7 or newer
so you get both HP and MS support.

this info here is the only why to get the correct drivers
there IS NO OTHER WAY,
go to hp.com they ask you then same thing,
do so.,
one trick if say there are 3 wifi drivers, for say XP and only on your exact machine at HP.com
then run all 3 drivers, 2 will fail, and 1 will not.
this is an HP secret, saves pulling card out and reading its words.
but after talking to HP
its no longer supported, its over 12 years old,
its listed on RETIRED page, (MEANS END OF LIFE)
