A high quality bar and chain oil or SAE30 weight motor oil should be used for chain and bar lubrication.

The use of a vegetable based bar and chain oil is recommended when pruning trees. Never use waste
oil or very thick oil. These may damage your chain saw.

- Before first use and every ten minutes of use you must oil the product with the recommended chain oil. Open the oiling cover and insert the bottle into the oil filling hole apply pressure to the bottle once to dispense oil.

- This should be adequate for about 10 minutes of cutting depending upon cutting speed and type of wood.

- The hole feeds the oil through to the chain onto the chain bar and an excessive amount of oil applied to the unit could mean the oil drips from the unit around the jaw area. This is normal and is nothing to be concerned about.

Can I download a manual for the Alligator lopper?

Here is the page you are looking for. I was looking for this download also. Go top the link below, and when it opens up, on the left hand side there is a place that say's user manuals. Click that and the next page will ask you if you want an over view, or user guide, just click user guide. The next page will give you choices of which lopper you want, the electric, or cordless. Choose the one you want, and it will open a user guide for that model. There you go, I hope this helps. Just need to know what kind of oil to put in the chain. Bar and Chain or 30W?

Bar & Chain oil is recommended and works best, however SAE 30 oil will also do the trick in a pinch.

Chain comes off alligator lopper

The chain slipping out of its groove is common with this lopper. We have two of them and the chain pops out of both of them. I noticed that it occurs mostly during horizontal cuts, so I try to be extra careful during those cuts because gravity tends to pull the chain off. There is less trouble with vertical cuts. One reason for the chain coming off is that it lacks tension. There is no way to adjust the tension to make the chain tighter. That is done automatically by a spring. Black and Decker have to review the design of their lopper, which is a great tool. At Lowes I was told that there was a clearance sale on all their B
