SOURCE: REMOVAL OF FAN

Ha - I found the solution myself. You need to remove the 3 screws securing the fan motor. Once you've done this, you can wiggle the fan a few mm, far enough to be able to remove the top element screw.

SOURCE: Access to torque converter to drive plate bolts is kicking my but

Your only option is to pull the tranny and replace the seal - also check the condition of the end of the crankshaft where the seal rides for excessive gouging or the new seal my not seal without first repairing or replacing the crank, this is rare however and a new seal should do the trick.

I recomend shopping around as the seal only costs about $25 and the major cost is removing the engine or transmission to replace it (wich ever is easier sometimes the motor is, but anyway maybe you can find a local friend or family member who could R&R the transmission or motor for you at a good price id say around 500-800 would be more than fair.

Look around you would be suprised when a shop is slow what kind of deals they will give out just to get some work.

It's not bad job, just time consuming. Need a way to hold tranny up while pulling parts. Have a chilton or haynes manual.

Basically though, you need to remove transmission or be able to move it back far enough... remove flywheel from crankshaft end... unbolt and remove rear main seal retainer... replace seal and gasket... reverse procedure.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

SOURCE: How do you replace rear tail light assembly?

Open the trunk and along the bottom of the tail light, there should be a Philips screw securing a cover piece. (your car may or may not have this piece)
With the cover off, there will be another 2 screws securing the bottom of the tail light assembly. Remove the screws and pull the bottom out and the top is held in by two retainers that should just slide right out

The system is not reading any games

Hello there,
The reason your system is not reading any game is because the lens is not working, to fix this, follow the steps below;
  1. Unplug the power cable, video cable and controllers and remove any discs from the disc drive
  2. Remove the rubber foot on the left side of the PS3, unscrew the security screw and slide off the top lid.
  3. Unscrew all nine screws under the lid and lift off this section to reveal the inside. Be sure to unplug the cable that connects to this lid before completely removing it.
  4. Remove the gray box. This is the Blu-ray drive. Disconnect the power supply and the cable connecting it to the motherboard
  5. Remove the five screws on the outside of the Blu-ray drive to remove the metal shell.
  6. Remove the next set of screws on the black plastic cover to gain access to the inside of the Blu-ray drive. Disconnect the red and black cable to pull the two plastic halves apart.
  7. Remove the cables and brackets and screws holding the laser in place and slide off the laser module. Be sure to check the model number on the laser to make sure you purchase the right replacement model.
  8. Replace with new laser module, reverse your steps and reassemble the PS3.

I have a Maytag Dryer Model # DMDG9206aww and my problem is the timer is not timing out the dryer will just dry clothes all day. Please Help!

The timer (part number 33001624)is obviously stuck; fiddle with the knob a little bit to see if it will unstuck. Otherwise the timer must be replaced; disconnect power to the dryer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Carefully lift the timer knob and dial off the timer shaft by pulling the knob away from the face of the console. Remove the timer dial skirt then remove the two timer mounting screws exposed.

Lay a piece of towel or cloth across the top cover of the dryer then remove the three screws securing the console rear cover plate across the rear top edge of the console. Grasp the top of the console then gently rock and roll it to the top cover of the dryer.

Remove the defective timer then install and secure the new one into position. Disconnect the wires from the defective timer and connect it to the new timer one at a time to prevent messing up the wires. Push in the timer knob into the shaft then reinstall the console in place. Roll the console back into an upright position to engage the locking feet into the slots in the top of the cover and secure it with the screws.

    Acer aspire 5100

This guide is to provide some help for those who want to disassemble their laptop.
You have to be sure that the problem you face is from the hardware, and that your laptop is not under warranty, since that laptop disassembly void warranty.
Search on the net for service manuals some are free and other cost around 6$ . Not find your model ? download some free service manual from different brands and read them many steps are the same in laptop disassembly. But i do recommended to find the manual that fit your laptop because you may need to know the part number of the defective part to change it.
Now you have to prepare a clean working area with small box for the different parts and their screws, and maybe a pen and a paper to remember particular step.
To disassemble the computer, you need the tools below:
Wrist ground strap and conductive mat for preventing electrostatic discharge
    Small Phillips screw driver
    Flat head screw driver
    Hexagonal driver
    Tweezers
NOTE : The screws for the different components vary in size. During the disassembly process, group the screws with the corresponding components to avoid mismatch when putting back the components.
When you remove the stripe cover, please be careful not to scrape the cover.
In most of laptop you can actually access by the base to these bays :
    battery
    memory
    hard disk
Remove them all, to remove the optical disk just release the screw securing the optical disk module, push the ODD module using a screwdriver and remove the ODD module from the main unit.
After that look on the keyboard area to find how to remove the keyboard for example with an Acer aspire 5100, you have to remove the middle cover from the edge of the middle cover and carefully detach the middle cover, then you just have to release the two screws securing the keyboard plate and carefully detach the keyboard plate from the edge of the keyboard plate finish by release the keyboard FFC lock carefully because it is fragile. Then remove the keyboard plate.
After that you can either disassembly the lcd module or try to access the motherboard.
For the LCD module carefully disconnect the LCD cable and any other cable that you can see, release any screws holding the LCD module on the bottom side of the main unit, release any other screws securing the LCD hinges on the main unit, then detach the LCD module from the main unit.
For the motherboard every model are different then you have to explore by yourself, but not forget to read some service manuals before.
You can find some free service manuals at laptop support.
I hope that this will give some help.

How do you remove the plates for cleaning?

I looked for you model by using Salton WM4 and found nothing. Is there a better model number?

    Closest match was Russell Hobbs
    RHBW4 and RHBW4CAN

This unit is also made by Salton

I checked several Salton user manuals and none of them had removable plates. They all stated this in the use and care guide:

    Cleaning

To keep your Waffle Maker operating properly, clean regularly.

    1. Unplug the Waffle Maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

    2. Never immerse the waffle maker in water or any other liquid.

    3. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly.

    4. To remove any remaining batter on the Cooking Plates, wipe with a soft, damp cloth or absorbent paper towel. Dry thoroughly.

    5. Do not use steel wool, scouring pads, or abrasive cleaners, as they will damage the finish.

How can I get the case of my Singer Featherweight II open?

To remove the cover of the Singer model 117 Featherweight II sewing machine:

    Referring to the diagram below:
    hronbo.jpg
1.Remove the face plate by removing the single screw fastening it to the left end of the chassis.

    2.
To make things easier, remove the presser foot (raise the presser foot and release the presser foot from its holder by pressing the black plastic foot release found at the rear of the foot holder, the foot will fall off.)

3.Remove the plastic see-thru slide plate that covers the bobbin. Remove the bobbin, and remove the two screws that secure the needle plate.Lift off the needle plate.Don't mess with the feed dog screws( Look closely at the" bobbin case assembly" and note how it is installed. The black thing you are looking at is the assembly. The chrome thing that looks like a hook is a fixed "bobbin case stop plate" , the case assembly fits under that and is supported by the hook race. Approximately 180 degrees from the fixed stop is a spring stop- note that the bobbin case assembly is free to rotate/ wiggle approximately 1/8" between these two points, and it is seated evenly in the hook race.Remember what you see so you can reinstall it later)Remove the bobbin case assembly with your fingers.

4.Remove the detachable tool case from the front of the machine by sliding it to the left.

5.The face cover is fastened to the chassis with four screws- two on the bottom which also pass through the bottom of the rear cover, one behind the face plate just above the lower thread guide, and one on the front of the machine behind the tool case. Remove the screws on the front and the left end, and loosen the two screws on the bottom ( if you are planning to remove the rear cover go ahead and remove the bottom screws completely.) There is no need to remove the screws that hold the auxiliary leg bar.

6.The screws are out- HOW DO I GET THE COVER OFF!?!
There is a hidden locking tab located just beneath the mylar seal that warns you to disconnect the machine before servicing and to close the cover before operating the machine. It is located just to the right of the needle plate and directly over the seam that separates the front and back covers. Don't remove the seal just slice it with a razor blade or utility knife right along the seam, make sure you cut all the way through the seal.

Working from the needle plate opening, take a medium sized flat-bladed screw driver and slide it under the rear cover just behind the seam (see photo) carefully twist the blade in a manner that both separates and lifts the rear cover off the front cover- it takes quite a bit of force and it will let loose with a loud snap. After the locking tab is loose the front cover is easily separated and lifted off the chassis.

    unlocking the case:
    hronbo_0.jpg

a closeup of the tab on the front cover
    hronbo_1.jpg

7.The rear cover is held on by three screws. There is one through the back at the handle recess, and there are two screws accessible from the front after the front cover is removed. Lower the presser foot lever, pull the screws and the rear cover will come off easy. Good luck with your repairs.
