Hello Richard,
Do you see the ignitor glowing in the oven yet no flame to the burner??If yes ya see the ignitor..while it seems strange the ignitor is the problem and its not getting hot enough to allow the gas to flow to the burner...by replacing the ignitor it will repair the oven.

Let me know it the ignitor does not seem to be glowing and i will tell ay how to check it since by far its very likely the problem.

Oven wont work everything else is fine

As your oven is electric there is a heating element in the oven, have a look in the oven to find it and check the little plug in caps on the end to make sure they are not loose. If they,re ok check the switch on the front panel sometimes the knob comes loose on the spindle if that's all ok it may be the switch has failed. Good luck.

Oven will not light

Most likely your oven igniter is faulty. When they get worn they will heat up but not get hot enough for the gas to turn on.

When you turn the oven on do you see any kind of glow inside the oven compartment? If you didn't your controller may be defective. If there is one of two possibilities: defective safety valve(GAS VALVE) or defective ignitor (glowing unit - even though it glows - still bad). The latter is the more likely of the two. When working properly about 3.2 amps needed to turn safety valve.

Re:Whirlpool SF310PKE gas range

When the oven safety valve refuses to open and let gas through, it's almost always because not enough current is flowing through the ignitor. Often an aging ignitor will appear to be glowing pretty brightly but still won't draw enough current to make the valve open. The first thing to try replacing is the ignitor.

You describe your ignitor as "red and glowing" but oven ignitors normally get a lot brighter than "red" -- well into what I'd call yellow.

GE Profile Spectra XL 44 gas oven

If you can smell the gas when you turn on the oven, it may be on a separate igniter that has gone bad. I would check this first. If you are not getting gas to the oven, there is possibly an issue with the supply line.
