GE Profile Spectra XL 44 gas oven

I can't find the oven in your list. It's GE Profile Spectra XL 44, combination gas and electric. Electric starter; gas range and oven. everything works except the oven. It did this a couple of weeks ago, and then suddenly started working later that night. Last night it wouldn't come on, and is still not working this afternoon. Broiler works; burners work; clock, etc. all work. When I set the oven temperature, it acts like it's coming on, but never does. Temperature read-out remains at 100. If we turn on the broiler, the temperature readout climbs, so obviously the thermometer is working. But no oven. The oven is about 7 years old.

Yeah, I thought about that. There is no gas smell.

Yeah, I thought about that. There is no gas smell. I think there is a safety feature, though, that won't allow the gas through if the igniter isn't working, so I wasn't sure how significant the no-smell is.

    Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I removed the bottom of the oven (plate that had 2 screws in it) and have the elements exposed. Not sure of where to go from there.

If it's an ignitor issue I should be able to replace myself, right? Any suggestions on how to assess without having to call in help would be appreciated.

If you can smell the gas when you turn on the oven, it may be on a separate igniter that has gone bad. I would check this first. If you are not getting gas to the oven, there is possibly an issue with the supply line.

Broiler works but oven does not ge xl 44 model JJBP24BEA2WH serial LV201917P Is this worth fixing?

Hello-  Yes if it's the igniter for the oven burner. The lower burner may light, but if igniter is bad, gas flow will not increase, causing under-temp condition. The part is available for 40-75$, and is fairly easy to install. Part is accessed by removing drip pan at bottom of oven. Gas ranges last longer than electric if the self-clean 'function' is avoided. Go ahead and fix it!  Let me know if this info helps-- have more if needed.   Thanks-  Ed
